Hello Matthew Well done , you have picked a nice build for yourself. I built the billing version around about 1979, or as my son says in the olden days!!! It cost approx £25 and the fittings were a separate kit costing about the same. Back then all the bulkheads had to be fret sawed out. Yes the bounty is very nice ship, so you just enjoy your build and create something special for yourself, I will follow your log with interest. Regards. DAVID

Greetings everybody Here's a quick up date of my progress. I have now turned to the starboard side and made up and loose fitted the channels deadeyes and chainplates. The profiles are all fitted so all I need to do is tidy up the paint work around the areas which will be obstructed by the chainplates. I can then secure and paint the channels and chainplates, then it's the gunport lids. I will also need to touch up the paint on the ports as I go. As you may remember there was a bit of an issue with the securing of the deadeye strops in the channels avoiding pull out. I have came up with a simple method which is very easy and saves a great deal of time and messing about. I have posted a couple of photos of the way I have fitted them for you to see. As I have yet to learn how to put dialogue under my photos the first photo shows the method used by Dave ( artificer ) which involves securing a brass pin in the corner of the slot to secure the strop in position which is excellent. What I have done is a simple variation of the same by cutting an angle on one side of the slot half way up which is shown on the next photo. I have also posted a photo of my present position which shows the brass profiles and channels in position ready for painting. There's also a photo of my little jiggly thing. Here we go. DAVID. is it possible to put dialogue under photos when posting on an iPad as I am???

Hello matti You have chosen a lovely ship to build. Every time I go to visit my sister I see this gorgeous billing boat model on display in her house. My father built it in the late seventies. I remember all the bulkheads had to be fretted out and you had to buy the fitting kit separately . Enjoy every minute of your build. It will be a joy to follow. DAVID

Greetings keviin It's really coming on fine, and very good explanations. I have a question would it be best to have the deadeyes all rotated to the same formation for the connecting the lanyards, I adjusted some of mine after checking on plan sheet twelve, I thought it may cause a problem with criss crossing occurring. I may be wrong , or is it not important . DAVID

Hello Kevin Yes excellent work on the channels and chainplates, every thing is crisp and clean. I did the same as Andy on the pins, made the hole a push in fit for the nail with a small dot of ca on the pin. Remember the dead eyes are reversed on the port side channels when compared to the drawing which shows the starboard side, if you see what I mean. Yep good stuff Kevin. DAVID

Hello derek Thanks for your reply, hope your gunport lids are coming out ok, and you are getting sorted on the cathead continuation. The photo prob? I am working in poorly lit room and using halogen lighting , I wonder if I could rig up an overhead fluorescent it might be better. Maybe some other builders may be able to advise me. The upside down photos ?? I am using an iPad and if I upload from the existing file option, the photos come up sideways or upside down, but I choose the option of take photo or video option they are ok. I have read about this problem on iPads.anyway derek I am now doing the buckets and then the starboard channels. DAVID

Greetings all Well things are going well and this post is the last of the port side hull which is finished apart from touching up the paintwork etc. The cannons need there nozzles painting with red ochre and securing in position. What I need to decide is the distance from the port they should be secured, I don't think they should be set right back, but pretty well forward, so need to sort that. So were do I go next?? Still not sure, but it's either the boomkins or the starboard channels and brass profile which I did mention earlier. I do have one part to fit on the port side but I am not sure how it fits so if any victory builders know how the sheet anchor palm block fits could you please tell me. Well thanks everyone for your comments and thanks for viewing. I did say all the photos were becoming much of a muchness, but sadly I shall bore you with a dozen or so to finish. Catch you all later. DAVID..... Prepare to get bored, here's the last lot of photos for you all. Cheers!!

Hello So I have found another, what looks like an excellent built to follow. Well everything looks very good to me, and I love the idea of carving the ornamentation. This aspect of your build will really add to your sense of achievement with the finished ship. I look forward to watching your build throughout its stages. Just enjoy it. Regards DAVID

Hello yon That netting looks fine and i can imaging it is awkward to do as it needs to be a very neat job, and I have it to come to. I have only seven more gunport lids to fit on the port side. And then I thought about doing the boomkins, but not sure yet. I have got some netting off some garlic I bought last week and will see how it looks, but think it may be to heavy if you know what I mean. When are you going to do the galleries. DAVID

Michael Simply brilliant, it screams quality. I remember my late father building the billing version of the same ship in the late seventies, which my Sister still has on display in her house. Keeping enjoying your build. Regards DAVID
