Mike, I know you are a ways away from building the whaleboats. The Morgan is on my bucket list and my goal (or dream) is to build framed whaleboats on a form. I plan to learn small boat building before I get to the Morgan. My point is that I just got a copy of The Greenwich Hospital Barge and methods of building open boats by David Antscherl from Seawatch Books. It looks to me that this book makes it very doable to build the whaleboats. I have not used the information to build a boat yet as I just got the book but it's well written and layer out with good illustrations. I hope to start a build log for a small boat based on the information in the book in the next couple of months.

Bruce, thanks for the great information. I have been storing my wood in the house for the most part but leaving the model in the garage. It would be easy enough to move it into the house when I'm not working on it. It's a small one right now. When I move to a bigger model I can move it inside for masting, rigging and fitting out. That tends to be cleaner work anyway.

Does temperature fluxuation also cause problems? I have moved my building to the garage and depending on the time of the year it can be quite cold or quite warm. I would liked to have keeper the work in the house but the dust got to be too much.

Thank you Hamilton, today was a good day for her. She was in a very happy mood for some reason. It really lifted my heart. I pray that she continues to have good days.

Chris, Chuck's rope is the best you will find. His other stuff is top notch too. He's also a good guy who is willing to offer his time to us newbies.

Albert, Your work is amazing. I have a question as somebody fairly new to model ship building. Is there a certain amount of natural ability at this level? I dream of reaching this skill level. -

I picked up a hard rubber adapter in the shop vac section of Lowes. It is stepped so you can cut it to fit the proper size. It works well. -
She's looking great Chris. I plan to get back to mine really soon. I don't know why we don't see more builds of this ship.

Chuck, I just put an order in last night but didn't see the traveler rings. Can I add them to th order? I guess I will just order them and if you include them with my existing order you can just donate the difference to MSW.

It's been way too long since I have worked on my Pinky. I have had some significant life changes over the last several months that have keeper me away from anything fun. I retired from my job in July to spend more time with my wife who had a stroke several years ago but has declined in health over the last year or so. She had to go into a nursing home in September because I was no longer to take care of her at home. I try to spend as much time as I can with her but I feel pretty helpless to do anything for her. Now that she is more settled in and is in good hands I am taking a little more time to myself. I still see her most days but am now taking time to do some things to get my mind off the negative stuff. I am in the process of getting my work area ready and should be back to my build in a week or so. I really need to do it and also enjoy the company of my friends here on MSW.

Hi Cris, Looking good so far. I chose this kit for the same reasons you did. The larger scale, nice looks and fairly easy build compared to some others. I'm just a little ahead of you and have not worked on it for a reward months. I plan to get back to it soon so maybe we can help each other along the way.

Wow, you are just cruising along and doing a fine job of it at that. I'm making little bits of progress but I don't think I will catch up. I'm glad it's not a race.
