Sometimes the easiest things escape you, until you see someone else doing it and think why didn't I think of that, saw this on siggi's build so easy make a jig and bend it around that instead of struggling on the hull

Looks good and you'll get the hang of those windows.  I think I went through 5 or 6 rounds of "draw, cut, test, curse, repeat" on mine.

my wife bought me the cheerful cutter from chuck for my 60th birthday the week before last, so now in a quandary which boat to build so I'm going to try and do both at the same time, i wont start a separate log for the cheerful as there are many on here already but might drop a few photos in here as i go along

so heres the first couple, i used copper for the keel joint instead o black as chuck suggests, i just like it showing up like it doesWP_20180324_12_30_54_Pro.thumb.jpg.3a25a591cf7dbd48595fce0190cce4d1.jpg

i was also unsure of whether i was going to paint or not so lined the forward gunport with boxwood 0.5 mm thick, then  after discussion with the wife i painted to follow chucks layout and this is where I'm up to currently

HI Keith

Yes I agree a little, been doing both for just over a week now and I find I actually only work on one and leave the other, I keep thinking 'ah while that's drying' I will do something on the other but it just doesn't happen

I managed to fit in some work on the Sirius, added the hooks and messenger rollers in the bow, and the first couple of beams with the cathead attached underneath

WP_20180411_15_09_14_Pro.thumb.jpg.263cabbd0b0174f5ea869067325139c4.jpg

You can just see the top of the roller at the front also my new hawser cable (nine strands laid right handed or with the sun into three ropes three strands in each then the three ropes laid left handed or against the sun into cable)

WP_20180411_15_09_22_Pro.thumb.jpg.6f29e3539eced8669bf9880f6f274459.jpg

Also did a little work on the cheerful, needs a bit of cleaning up!

WP_20180411_15_11_21_Pro.thumb.jpg.1ebe7e2c2f485d11a53769cf0f9624a0.jpg

Unfortunately I have run out of boxwood strips and have ordered some more so doing things in a different order slightly to chucks instructions while I await delivery

Hi Keith @KeithAug

I get boxwood strips from originalmarquetry.co.uk under lines and stringing and the ebony came from exotichardwoodsukltd.com they do a one kilo bag of offcuts under ebony in blocks and squares that had some huge pieces in it, originalmarquetry isn't cheap but send stuff really quickly, I ordered on Tuesday and it arrived today.

Exotic hardwoods have some awesome stuff and you could spend a fortune if not careful. Peruse both sites we'll worth it.

Hope that helps

Paul
