Bolts added at the tip of the standards, bottom will be put in when fastened to the deck, ironwork added to the companionway, gratings also completed, I have simulated the bolts with pencil, only one though couldn't get two in there, I should be able to start deck planking soon

Hi Paul, when you say having the skylight windows opening, Are you thinking of just having them or one permanently opened or do you mean being able to open and close them? The deck furniture looks great.

Thanks Michael and for all the likes, I did think to have them working, opening and closing but with the frames at 1/32 it might be difficult

I have added some hinges and opened one side, they will go up and down but will be very fragile and probably mot accessible when completed so I'm thinking to fasten one side and leave one open

Started work on the waterways, curved scarph joints are a pain

I'm using ottili wood for the waterways, I was given some sheets by friends who own a boat yard in Windsor (they are currently refurbishing the last Dunkirk vessel still afloat and supplied the boats for the recent Dunkirk film)  its quite grainy but is a lovely colour

Unfortunately no work in the Sirius this weekend as had orders from above to make handles for the wife's sewing machine screwdriver and her unpicker thingymagig, First try at turning with the screwdriver and then went mad with some glued together strips for the unpicker, the small one in the middle is a piece of naturally two coloured ebony

The machine is a 1932 Jones in beautiful condition so I thought I had better put some effort into the handles to match the workmanship on the machine, she chose three so that means I get to keep the bottom right for one of my xacto saws bargain!!

Hi Paul I like the way the deck planks look on the cheerful they seem to have the right amount of texture. sometimes it seems that very uniform planks could almost have been scribed on a single sheet of very plain wood.

I noticed a little anomaly on the cheerful photo earlier and went to have a look at the Hull sitting in ordinary awaiting further work

20181012_181953.thumb.jpg.117c8fc384b229280987a717a98d590d.jpg

There seems to be some sort of reaction going on along the seams, the whole Hull was flattened with five or six coats of sanding sealer, I used dark glue between the planks as I was going to leave natural at the time but then decided to paint using acrylic, the seam lines have risen since then??? Whilst I like the look, I'm not sure how or why its occurred

The chase port needed cutting out, still needs the sill adding in and filing square, tested with 9lb gun and carriage

At this time I believe the carronades were fitted on the inside principle so I have made the  6"x6" blocks to use as spacers ready for when bulwarks are built up

I have added a piece across the rear beam to infill ready for the balustrade which I'm going to try and do in ebony, hence the clips holding the front finishing piece
