Le Mirage by Sjors - FINISHED - Corel - Wood - 1:75

For those who are impatient to see what I have done with the ratlines, 1 picture of my progress.

 

Notice that I started at the bottom ( normal i think  ) and how higher I go, how better it goes….

I don't know if there is a measurement of the distance between the ratlines but I take 1 cm…….

It looks good , so I keep continue with that.

But, 1 cm is 75 cm on the original from the scale 1:75...

Is this not too high, how can a crew climb up?

 

 

I understood... You run away from the numbers...

More distance, few ratlines...

Or can I say that those crew members are giants??????

Or maybe there is another solution and take 0,5 cm ?

Ratlines would generally be 13 to 15 inches (33 to 38 cm) apart so at 1:75 scale .5 cm would be a good measure.

I don't know the exact distance acceptable...

As for me, maybe wrong but I had decided to rig the ratlines between 0,75 cm but the scale is 1:40. This means 30 cm.

As Wayne mentioned, you should double the work...

And if you use a rope of 0,5 mm that means 3,75 cm. It's too thick I suppose...

Yup.... That would be the easiest solution.... Add another row between the ones you already have. Have you also considered using a card template? (Maybe you are but didn't show a photo of it.. )

My drawings quality are that bad that I don't want to show it to you 

If I'm doing it without that one, It never goes straight……then it looks if I'm drunk ( mmmmm not a bad idea   )

They look pretty darn good to me Sjors... I think I read something somewhere that said the people of that time were taller than most... so the distance between ratlines might just be perfect.

I don't know Sjors, they look pretty good to me, of course my eyes are not up to par right now....... but, if you don't plan on climbing up them, I'd leave well enough alone

My ratlines are improving but yours are neater. At least I understand the knots involved and like everything about this hobby, the first time stinks, the second try might improve and eventually a rhythm occurs.

They aren't pretty, and they are probably too far apart too but I'm working 'em.

Remember that !

For the distance….use a template behind the shrouds.

It works perfect !

When you closed the knot, Take a tweezer en pull the rope tight that is coming from the left side.

Then pull a little at the long rope and let it go.

Then you have a nice straight rope and a good knot.

Don't forget to put a little glue on the knot to keep him in place.

And I want to see pictures from you tonight !

And because I'm a Commodore and you are a Commander, you have to follow orders…...

This will make you be very experienced gnome handler...

BTW, your ratlines are strict, orderly and neat...
