Checked with the transom piece if I’m still within reasonable boundaries, symmetrical and even. When the bowsprit hole in the bollards piece and in place, I now finally will finish chapter 1 this weekend. I’m enjoying every inch forming, sanding and glueing and not thinking about how much work lies ahead before reaching chapter 9. Hobbying in the moment as with ‘mindfulness’ hahaha… Placed the second batten now and checking hights per bulkhead port and starboard now. As it’s almost evening now here, so I’ll put her aside in a few moments, read ahead further in chapter two in Chucks very clear instructions. Trussben Posted December 20, 2021 Share #140 Posted December 20, 2021 It appears to me that you have sanded the bottom of the lower counter too much, it’s easy to check - look at the plans at the stern section or print out the frieze for that area and hold it to the counter to see if you need to make adjustments, better now than when you come to plank and find it’s wrong. Hopefully it’s only just a matter of flattening the curve, as I ended exactly in the middle of stern piece D with the bottom of the wales as per the instructions. What I don’t understand though is how you guys all can end up in the middle of stern piece ST-D with the lower part of the wales and make the stern print fit exactly… Should the instructions instead say “the lower part of the wales should touch exactly between steen parts ST-C and ST-D”? You need take pics and see how it looks from all angles. Split the difference and i think you will be fine. Refer to the plans to see the desired shape. You don't need to worry about the frieze fitting. Trussben Posted December 21, 2021 Share #150 Posted December 21, 2021 What I meant was the shape of your counter was too much, see your blue vs green line, use the shape of the frieze to improve that - I had the same issue and had to fix it some just like JJ - its easy to over sand that area when fairing the hull.
