I must confess I'm surprised that the tank is clear plastic.   I'm assuming the real ones were that way also and there was no fuel bladder?

The fuel cell is fiber glass and has to be certified each year.

Thanks for the info.  I wasn't aware of that.

I've got to say I'm super happy with the metal effects on this. The casings would be made of magnesium and I've worked up close and personal on hundreds of these and I don't think I could get more realistic results, I tried a different approach, normally I use ABT engine grease thinned down to a wash but I didn't want to disturb the mig steel colour I had used which I know white spirit based wash would so I tried a wash of vallejo engine grey over it. I'm loving the result, I can see me using this again.IMG_0405.jpg.186f1a8d48fb463cabe681cd8a5b44ff.jpgIMG_0406.jpg.1575ced01f75b5c7cff020efd345b945.jpgIMG_0407.jpg.76b4ef4b9ae8490346e79a0a48424d1e.jpgIMG_0408.jpg.b11b872176045771ca99434c27cdfbff.jpg

Did some work on the fuel pump, Tamiya would have you use plastic tube for the fuel lines whereas they are metal on the real thing.

Since I've used artistic licence already and depicted gold plated nuts and bolts I decided to depict gold plated fuel lines too.

You constantly amaze me in how you can take common cast plastic and make it look like metal.... (indistinguishable from real life car parts)

Your going to have to teach me that some day.... {chuckle}

Very nicely done...

I posted a tutorial on one of the forums I'm on, on how I do it, I would post here but I don't know where to post it.

I could post a link to it if you like.

OH Please!!! I love new or better techniques... And I believe there is a fora here for posting techniques tutorials, but I think it's reserved for ship related techs...

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!

I've been trying to figure out that technique for years now ever since I first seen it on a completed model....

Here's the direct link... no looking for "X"....    https://www.scale-models.co.uk/threads/engines-engines-engines.37870/

If you get an X when pasting, look to the bottom and you'll see a message about the embedding.  Just copy the link addy from the website and then paste it in the post.
