Welcome back Augie, I trust the vacation went well and that your freezer is bulging with all those fish you caught.

What can I say that hasn't already been said, nutten, so I'm gonna repeat it, lovely piece of work Augie, love the finish, colour and the contrast.

Excellent work mate.

Thanks guys and gals.  Glad to see I'm not adrift all alone in enjoying this little bit.

Definitely not alone enjoying that little bit!

Things have been a bit slow in the yard as the chief shipwright, deciding to use as #11 blade as a chisel, added his DNA to the build.  No major damage but a painful reminder that it's impossible to do the fiddly bits with bandaged fingers.

However, we did manage to get a start on the foredeck.  Here, we've added some coamings, companionways, and a second fife rail.  Note the chimney for the stove below.  I love that stove, now 80% invisible.  But we know it's down there !

Looking great, Augie. I like the color of the woods.  Gotta be careful with those #11 blades, tho. Their as dangerous as my woodcarving knifes. ;)

She's a splendor to look at Augie!  I hope there was not too much loss of vital bodily fluid after the mishap.   :P

Hey Augie,

Every Boat / Ship I've built carries my DNA, should have learned by now but never seem to.  :(

I hope there wasn't too much damage mate, you only got 8 pints of the red stuff you know. ;)

Connie's looking real good mate.

Sorry to hear about the chiseled finger Augie. The doctor in me is still trying to wrap a mind image around that...

...I love the stove too and hope it remains visible somewhat. Even if it doesn't the rest of your build is such beautiful work it may not be missed.  ;)

Augie.... My rule is, any wound that does not require the application of a tourniquet, or a trip to the emergency room for stitches, is nothing more than scratch that, after a few cold beverages, becomes much less painful....

Sorry to hear of the mishap Augie. I'd been wondering how you achieved that nice red colouring on your model - I guess your secret's out now! ;)

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and for your deepest sympathies    .

The best part, Grant, is that unlike Polyscale, I have an (almost) endless supply of that red in stock.

Thank you, Lawrence.  Need to apologize for the lack of progress lately.  Too much going on ---- and another 2 weeks of non-shipbuilding activity on the horizon.  Fortunately, I have all of the great folks here continuing to make progress on their projects so I'm still in the loop --- and eager to get back.

See you in September !

Just the usual sanding with 150/220/400 grit paper.  But it depends on the amount of laser burn.  I had some sheets where it was quite severe and this could be what you have.  My problem was on the hanging and lodging knees and I had to resort to making them mostly from scratch.  Sorry, but I don't have a magic bullet.

Life has slowed down enough to put in some time in the workshop.

Continuing on the foredeck, we've installed the belfry and the cap for the deck beam that supports the stanchions for another railing.

Next will be fitting the waterways and margin planks for the deck itself.  I've decided to reverse the partial deck plan used in the stern so that the port side will be left open forward.  This will allow a partial  internal view from either side of the ship.
