Next up will be door handles, then final painting and assembly of the bulkheads.

Then installation and the rest of the bulwarks/second planking.

And installed:

Now to paint the reverse side of the bulkheads, drybrush everything, seal everything, and install the bulkheads.

Then I’ll be taking pictures of the entire ship again.

It’ll be time to close up the rest of the hull very soon.

Then to add the second planking, the wales, and the rest of the decorations.

And then to paint to match the rest of the ship.

Thank you all very much!

I have been having a lot of fun with this model!

The poop deck is on:

IMG_6507.thumb.jpeg.c2df3efd051c9a247a9175e7c2c71485.jpeg

Once everything dries completely, I will add some trim, trim some areas that need trimmed for the rest of the hull sides, fix some areas that were over zealously trimmed, paint the interior portions of the hull sides, seal those areas and install the hull sides.

Then on to installing wales, second planking, and the hull decorations that 16th century ships were so well known for.

This will look a million times better shortly, once I lay down wales and begin the second planking.

second planking:  so much fun the first time... let do it a second time.  Unlike the first planking you have no bulkheads to clamp.  I found that using 120mm length planks so much easier to handle and glue. You just need to get the wale plank right... then it is use as guide for planking the whole.  Just my 2-cents as a beginner... you may have alternate approach yourself.

I can't wait to see the results, fellow Revenge"R".  Have Fun!

The good thing about paper planks is that they are easy to shape.

I typically can use PVA glue, sometimes reinforced with a little CA, to keep everything in place.

The tedious part is cutting the cardstock into long strips.

I’ve got the Revenge on hold because I’m working on my wife’s Christmas gifts.

She bought 5 small dollhouse kits and room boxes and asked me to build them for her for Christmas.

I’m on 3 out of 5.

Out of curiosity, do any of the rest of you make Christmas and/or birthday gifts for your spouse or other close family/friends?

I honestly am not much of a builder. My love for sailing ships and need to see them in 3D causes me to tangle with skills that by no means come natural. I wish I was more of a craftsman- and I wish I had more space and time for it too!
Hope you’re enjoying those dollhouses! Not a bad distraction.

The dollhouses have been an interesting change of pace.

I have learned a few tricks that can be applied to my ships.

That is most of the furniture for the coffee shop one, which is the one I’m currently working on.

You can tell that you’re a ship modeler when one definition of heavy reading involves the books that you use to make your models dry flat, lol.

There was a time when I created part of the gifts themselves, in addition to bought presents, but lack of time prevented that ever since.

I'd still put something together when asked to, of course.

Nice coffee shop.

Revenge is coming along nicely as well, when the red part is planked and not red anymore, it will make quite a difference in appearance!

The second planking continues:

Especially considering that this was very much an impulse build, this model is coming along quite nicely.

I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I don't know how you can work with cardboard has building material.  I can see that it will be easy to form each piece but...  holding it together to get the shape of the ship just right, that seen to be an art form. It seen so fragile.  Well done.
