Finally the staircase was added. For some parts I used wood from walnut or fruit trees. All paper parts were repainted or finished by self-adhesive foils with wooden look.

Hello Doris.
beautiful boat.
Could you give us more information about the diodes?
thank you very much. Cabrapente
Posted (edited)

Thank you for your comments, dear friends, your words mean a lot to me, I am very honoured and have a great motivation to work.

About diodes:
I use common LED orange-yellow colour. There are two types of LED - brighter/strongly luminous (used in interior of cabins) and classic with normal luminosity (used in lanterns and outside parts of the model). Inside the model Royal Caroline there are four separate electrical circuits, each one has 2 or 3 LED connected in series with resistor before first LED (+).

Kind regards,

Doris

That Pegasus figure was beautifully modelled, Doris. With a fully-round figure, would you make it in two halves, or model it completely in the round?

Thank you dear friends,

I am pleased and honoured, that you like my sculpting and videos.  I have started with sculpting during HMS Victory build and enjoyed this work a lot.

http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=39660#p747633

After some years and quite long training I have improved my sculpting technologies, but still have to learn and look for ways to improve my work.

That Pegasus figure was beautifully modelled, Doris. With a fully-round figure, would you make it in two halves, or model it completely in the round?

With a fully-round figure I make the second half after baking the first one.The clay is sticked onto the baked half of figure and here is shaped the same way (as you could see on videos) till it is ready for baking again. Some parts are made separately and after baking attached to the sculpture. It is possible to use modeling clay to stick other parts and then you have to bake the whole statue again or you can use super glue.

http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=43575&start=390#p1054822

I am going to create another video where you will see a technology how to create full-round statue.

Finally I started to decorate the model. All is hand-made from modelling clay as on attached videos. For shaping this clay I use pointed tweezers, tip of a pen and my fingers. All is made on a wax paper, not to stick the modelling clay to its surface after baking. I use golden enamel paint by Testors.

Hello Doris,

Just amazing. The stern is absolutly fantastic. It is such a joy to follow your work.

I took a look at your Souvereign of the Seas. What a magnificent build.

The last picture, where you're holding the ship, says it all ..... One proud lady.

I can't say it enough, but thank you again for sharing your beautiful work with us.

Take care,

Anja

Doris,

I really enjoyed watching you create those carvings in the videos (it's deceiving to see artists at work--you make it look like anyone could do it--not true!).   I'm amazed at how beautiful they look when finished and on the ship.  Thank you for sharing the process, and the results, with us.

Kind regards,

Ron

I really like your artistry in softening the gold finish to your carvings and giving it a patinated look. Outstanding.

Hello dear friends,
I am pleased and honoured reading your comments. Thank you a lot. It makes me happy to share my models and technologies with you, especially if it is useful for other people and could help them to create own models. I also need advices and to achieve better results and more realistic models. I am not perfect and still learn.

To Anja: Sovereign of the seas is my favourite sailing ship,  I wished to create the model as realistic as possible. Sergal/Mantua wooden set was too expensive for me, so I decided to make a scratch build and used card and other available materials. I cooperated with two captains who helped me with realistic details. I spend more than 6000hours to build SoS. My dream became a reality.

You're a gifted model maker Doris. I wonder if you also made doll houses, as your cabin rooms have that feel.

To Greg: I have to say, I made some houses with interior, but mainly make interior in car-models and also their engine bay.

http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=165&t=65039

I also like real cars, spent a lot of time to renovate our old car and during this work learnt to work with paints, lacquers and others... Now it is a useful experience when i build models.

The work on Caroline continued with main cabin, where I finished all side windows.
Glass sheets are made of a clear DVD or CD pad. Window frames are made of paper and glued precisely on both sides of the glass (the glass is put without bonding).

I have started with interior of main cabin, I made a base of wall panels (combination of paper and wooden look foils).
Soon I am going to start with decoration of the hull, so there are added roofs above quarter galleries.
