Hi. I start, very very slowly, this work: Le Fraçois, a small 5th class vessel from the end of 17th century (1683), work by Jean-Claude Lemineur.

Woods: mainly pearwood, ebony and boxwood.

The base of the building board is 2 cms thick. The height of upper jig is positioned on waterline.

The keel has got four pieces and it's not flat, has a slight tilt in bow and stern. There is no false keel in this model.

The rabbets angles are temporarily formed, once the frames have installed the final shape will take place.

All parts of the keel, stem, inner stem and rising-wood are glued.

The stern-post is not glued to the whole, by now, in order to work more comfortable on stern parts.

Frames are formed by three different thicks, at 1/48 scale are four, three and two mm, from the bottom to the top. By now, I'm only making the foot of frames to check how fit on the keel.

Best regards,

Jose

You're off to a great start, Jose.  I'm going to follow along.  I find it interesting that the keel is the curved.

Jose,

Even slow progress is progress. It makes the anticipation bigger!

I continue with frames. In this case, I've only made floor timber and lower futtocks of aft frames.

I'm also checking some of these pieces on the keel in order to have an idea. Of course, they are not sanded, glued or lined up. In fact, there is an extra thickness because of paper glued on each side.

Cheers,

Jose

Well, some progress in order to keep alive this topic.

After "some" frames later...

Checking frames in place. Of course, they are not glued or finished. In fact, I must build stern frames. I've also built hawse timbers, ufff!. I think it's one of the most difficult part of a ship.

Best regards.

That's a very nice longboat, Jose.  I like that unpainted wood.

Well done Jose (José?) I followed Johann's chaloupe build too and it is very clear and practical. You've taken the right buildlog to take your lead from. Your work on the longboat looks very good indeed

Cheers

First, second ant third wales installed and gunports of the first deck too. I've applied a first layer of shellac under the first wale, as a test (it's not definitive; more sanding and polished treatment is needed).

Cheers.
