Augie, your yards look really nice with the footrope eyebolts installed. I'm looking forward to seeing these secured to their masts.

You've gotten quite a bit accomplished there! She is going to be tall too! Looking good Sjors.

Mobbsie, as a proud former Kentuckian, the Kentucky long rifles gave birth to snipers. Things have come a long from then up to when a Navy seal was able to snipe pirates off of a freighter off the Somalian coast.

Mobbsie, LAMO!!! I've only built US and Canadian ships so I have no trouble with joint exercises.

Hey Sjors, that bowsprit looks awesome! She will be ready to sail in no time and then look out! With her and your San Ildefonso you will be a force to be reckoned with; especially if you are adding an Agamemnon to your fleet. I do have one question however.... How do you get a British, French and Spanish ship to work together peacefully in your fleet?

Those yards look really nice Augie. I use my drill as well to taper my yards and masts and haven't been displeased with the results thus far. I do usually start with square stock when I can find it. Your yards are definitely going to accomplish the mission.

Are you going for an "Andy Warhol" effect? LOL. I really enjoy watching your projects come to life.

I understand that completely. I'm definitely not the best at soldering. I made the little U-shaped brackets for the ends of each rail but didn't for all of the stanchions in between. I was able to get some black card stock and glued that directly to the rails to simulate those brackets. Your rails still look excellent though. That is one of the harder areas on this ship to construct.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
