  4. Dan, what I would do is bring the mast down to about .125 then I would drill the holes for the sheeves. Then Using sandpaper bring iy down to the final dimensions. David B
  5. Weathered Oak by Minwax I have also experimented with wood bleach with mixed results
  6. Put on the sails but leave them furled. This will show off the hull and at the same time show the detail for rigging. David B
  7. On your treenails have you thought of going in from the other side? That is what I do with my drawplate and I am able to shave off very thin pieces. down to a number 80 drill bit. Run the skewer through the same hole several times shaving it then going down one at a time. David B
  8. Looking good. I will will be interested in your paper caulking. As I never had good luck with it. As for the cannon port, take a good look at the plans and they may be able to give you an idea of what to use. David B

By putty people wre talking about a filler plastic wood wood filler etc. When simulate trenails because of the the scale I work in I would just drill the holes with a #80 and the scrpe and polish the deck. Saw dust will fill the holes and once the deck is sealed you can barely see them. I have seen maritime measles and never liked them much. David B
