  18. Years ago several club members were asked to build an aircraft carrier. They used builders foam for the plug. Very strong and durable. After the fiberglassing was done just use a little acetone and melt the foam out. David B
  19. Kurt another thing you should do is rough up the surface of the pieces you will glue up. That way the glue will get into the fibers and make for a bettet bond. I would use a good yellow glue and do layer by layer alternating the grain each time. David B
  20. For weathering you can do what is called the dry brush method but practice first. Up at Manitowoc I have seen many a weathering job with this method. But the biggest secret to success is less is more. David B
  21. I have a small bench grinder for shaping my tool bits. For basic sharpening I will use my Delta belt/disc sander. For wood turning I use my Delta and then clean up with a stone and a buffer with my Foredom. David B
  22. Canned air will work but you have to be careful og the can freezing up on you. Several years ago I was repaing a hull for a client and the chugged out a mess and I had to redo the entire hull. That is when I bought a compressor. Keep the cans in a pan of luke warm water and this will help stop it. I know people who use innertubes. Or take a tank to a gas station and fill it. Just make sure you have a good regulator with a water trap. David B
  23. Nice way to put a complex part together. Break it down into several pieces and then fitting them together. Bravo! David B
