Envy is raising it's head. Too bad I cannot see it at Manitowoc this year. I am sure the judges would be impressed. Enter it in the next NRG photo contest. David B

Years ago. At Manitowoc a modeler brought in a model of the Thermopylae. He brought It in a trailer. The day was hot and humid. The Rigging was very loose. He was going to tighten it up but was told to leave it alone. I wish I had taken a before and after photo. The line tightened up inside the museum. In a temperature controlled environment the line was returned to normal. David B

Jay, I just came upon your log. Sorry I did not see it sooner. If I build the Conn your build will be a must read. I however lack the courage and I am looking at other models of interest. Great work David B

Last summer a friend dropped by with a RC model of a J Class yacht and showed me how to work with it. In the pond the thing was beautiful with great lines and sail plan. Go for it. Racing yachts are like Arabians. They are wonderful to look at. David B

Facebook has a place I have found much enjoyment from some of the groups and friends I have made. However I will never give out personal info or data. It is too easy for some troll to take what you wrote or said and hurt you with it. I was talking with someone and they offered to give me there bank information to help me out. I put a stop to that and informed them that they could be in for a world of trouble if they continued. I had to explain that face book was open to everyone and that nothing posted was considered safe. They did not believe me and said I worried to much. I haven't heard from him in awhile and hope he did not get into any trouble. David B

Hank I have always been a Steel Navy fan but never had the courage to tackle one. The few I have done by Tamiya and Revell left much to be desired and were lets just say they will never see the light of day. Fantastic work I am envious, David B

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
