  1. Hi Mark, I think it's a good call on the deck re-do - although a painful one. It would have bugged you every time you looked at it. Your model is looking great - beautiful workmanship. Gary
  2. Congratulations on the completion of Dirty Dozen Ken. It turned out just great - the diving suit is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Gary
  3. Hello Frank, What a great subject. I really enjoy working boats - and what a bonus that she is also beautiful in line. I wish you enjoyment on this build. I'll be following along and learning. Gary
  4. Congratulations on your completed launches Bob - they both turned out great. Beautiful work. Gary
  5. Thanks for the info on the brass blackening Matt. The product and your technique are going into my notebook. Thanks again. Gary
  6. Sweet work Patrick. The removable decks turned out great - and what a terrific idea. Your build is so fun to follow. Gary P.S. Do the white and blue couch pillows have zippers so you can change out the stuffing?
  7. Beautiful work Matt. Your metal work is really exceptional. What are you using to blacken the brass? (sorry if I missed it) - it's very realistic. Gary
  8. Hi Kees, Beautiful work, every aspect of it. I am so impressed with your rusting technique - so very realistic and convincing. Thanks for sharing. Gary
  9. Hello Russ, I am so glad I found your build. I am really attracted to fishing and other work boats of this era. In fact, I'm in the planning stages of a 70' sardine carrier from 1940 - and it's a similar looking vessel to your lugger. You're moving right along on this model and she's coming to life and looking great. I wish you much success with this build. Your other models are excellent BTW. I'll be quietly in the back row taking notes. Gary
  10. Hello Pat, What an interesting vessel and build this is going to be, and the progress to date is looking very nice indeed. I admire your determination in turning over every rock and going down every rabbit hole looking for information and history on this ship. That's a lot of work, but worth the effort - you're keeping history alive. I look forward to watching your groups progress. Gary
  11. Excellent work on those railings Michael. Exacting, precise and well thought out. Your restoration is so interesting to follow. Gary
  12. She's coming along beautifully Patrick ! That mast with radar and gear looks really nice. Your hand in the photo reminds us of how small Shadow really is - it is so detailed that it's easy to forget. You are extraordinary working in the miniature. Gary
  13. Hey Steve, Sorry, I should have gone back and reviewed your log before asking that question. Don't know how I missed that. Anyway, it looks to be a very interesting process and the results are great. Thanks, I want to try it myself. Gary.
  14. Hello Steve, I keep looking at your terrific engine and wondering what the base, frame uprights and top are made from. They really do look like cast iron - straight from the sand molds. Polymer clay? Gary
  15. She's coming along great Ken. The seat cushions turned out very convincing. Gary
  16. Hello Marc I've been reading your log and your catboat is really looking good. I like your tool and material procurement - a Samsung TV, HP printer and a parrot toy. Now that is resourceful and good thinking. Very nice model. I'm sure your sister is going to enjoy it. Gary
  17. Hello Kees, I just recently found your build log and have read it from the beginning. Your model is turning out wonderfully and the level of your craftsmanship in styrene is so impressive - some of the best I have seen. Thanks for sharing your techniques and videos - I have learned a great deal. It is logs such as yours that inspire me to do better with my own modeling. I hope your health is improving - keep well. Gary
  18. Hello Ken, I've been following your build (which is coming along beautifully ) and decided to take a peak at some of your other completed models online. I found your work on craftsmanshipmuseum.com and I am beyond impressed. Your models are simply stunning. Your Sopwith Camel and Model T are jaw dropping. I look forward to seeing this build progress. Gary
  19. Hello Maury, Just catching up on your build and I think you're doing a beautiful job. Very nice indeed. I agree with your call on the mast partner. Although I liked the first version, your second version has much greater visual interest - it will be an eye catcher. Nicely crafted too. Gary
  20. Well it doesn't look "pretty rough" to me Patrick - it looks pretty darn nice. So tiny, intricate and crisp. I'm curious - are you using a mix of materials? Some card stock, some styrene? Keep the photos coming. Gary
  21. Very ingenious Steamschooner - I'm going to file that away. Gary
  22. Hello Mike That really is some complex joinery at the corners - but I have no doubt you will execute it well. It echoes and forwards the joinery in your model. Your ship is looking terrific by the way. Good luck on the display case. Gary
  23. Beautiful, precise craftsmanship John - so crisp and clean. Very nice. Gary
