  1. Well good folks I couldn't find a finish that Iiked so I used the one I put on Alfred. I have been using a mixture of bee wax and thinner, brings out the wood nicely and will add a nice golden color to the planking and not change the color of the wood. Once it's dry I take a rag and wipe it down, and use a bit of steel wool that will bring out a nice sheen to her. Gary

  2. Thanks Albert. Do you by chance have the ZAZ  and J number of that plan? Am trying to order it but so far can not find it and will come in real handy when building the ship.  Hard to frame one when you can't see how the frames look on the side. I sent a email to the Greenwich requested that plan but so far they have not come up with any thing. Thanks  you sir and you are outstanding.  Hope your having a good day  and look forward to watching your outstanding build  come to life. Again thank you.  Gary

  3. Hi Albert. Your building and dry dock are out standing. If you don't mind just a question but the wood on your base looks like pear but what is the top made of ? It looks like rock by the color and this is the same type of base I want to build for Montague/Alfred. Another question how wide is the opening of the back of the slip and how deep did you make it at the back end and front end.  Have the book you talk about and will come in real handy and thank you again very very much for sharing your build with us. Gary

  4. Hi Dave  Am just a little late to the party but have one other book that will make a good addition to you small library. Peter Goodwin has a very wonderful book and I use it and Brain Lavery  all the time and would be a good asset for you. It's called  the Construction and fitting of the English Man of War.  Do believe you will be very happy with this one and really has lot's of good infor that one need's for building them.  Have fun. Gary

  5. Thanks Jim. It's getting there and am hoping it come's out on the good side. Some time's I just have to push my self to go out to the shop to work on her verse just sitting in the house being a coach potatoe.  You will get there before you know it. Just take your time good sir and as Chuck said it will be a big relief once it's finish, the hull planking that is . Will be watching your build. Being able to look in on the other build's is a big help to myself and other's and for that a big thank you. Gary

  6. Hello good folks. Seems like I have been doing this for every, planking that is. Don't think it's to bad, not perfect, but planking was always the hardest for me when it came to building and planking a hull.  Maybe that's why I stick to building them, plank on frames, with out planking the lower hull.  Figure building Chucks hull gave me a chance to practice this part of the hobby. Not the best but that's ok. After a couple of month's, have manage to get 3 belts per side done, and  now facing what I believe to be the hardest belt to come. Looking at the landing of the counter planks and where the lower planks on the hull meet, will be a big test of getting the planking just right.  A sort of do or die I believe. Hoping that it will come out looking good but will have to wait and see. I have to line this belt off yet, which should be a big help doing it. Still a lot of sanding to do once the last belt is on and finally putting a finish on.
