  1. Chris, that's amazing especially considering it's paper.
  2. Best wishes on building the dory.
  3. Eric, it depends on which direction the wind is blowing. if the open end of the stovepipe you've created were pointed into the wind it would flood the galley with smoke. It really doesn't matter unless you have billowing sails and in that case the opening needs to point towards the bow. Because wind will force smoke back down a stovepipe and for that reason most stovepipes are vertical with a cap. See the attached.
  4. Thank you for the update, Keith. Always a pleasure hearing from you. Please let us know when your new grandson has safely arrived.
  5. Buddy, that's some fantastic work right there. I'm duly impressed.
  6. Ian, welcome to MSW. Glad to have you aboard.
  7. Fantastic Job, Eric. Congratulations.
  8. Adrian, welcome to MSW. Glad to have you aboard.
  9. Allan, the only reason I can think of for a second "locking" pin was for when the carriage was in the stowed position?
  10. Gary, the link below is informative me thinks. By the early 19th century wouldn't land based carriages have had iron trucks? https://collections.royalarmouries.org/object/rac-object-6135.html And another... https://www.nps.gov/parkhistory/online_books/source/is3/is3c2.htm
  11. My two cents worth..........earlier trucks may well indeed have been one piece but as cannon/gun weights increased it became necessary to build a more robust truck being a two piece bolted version.
  12. Pat, it's so nice to see you back working on Victoria. Your research and keen eye for detail coupled with your ability to make Victoria's bits and pieces is a pleasure to watch.
  13. John, welcome to MSW. Nice models, glad to have you aboard.
  14. Pierre, welcome to MSW. Glad to have you aboard.
  15. Amazing ordeal and the completed process is even more amazing. You've been awarded the seal of approval.......
  16. Eric, the only issue I see is by putting the ship's ladder there, where is/was the outhouse?
  17. Nix, can you please provide the letters on the box used as deck. I make the last three letters being RAS but I can't make out the letter/letters preceding the R. The mast seems to be placed in what appears to be a sunburst. I have a hunch the word might be Germany and identifying the company logo maybe beneficial.
