Superb work. Always perfectly clean and precise. And I still admire the work on the harmony of the different wood species.

Having completed the AVS, I can finally start this new and long awaited project. Indeed, it's been two years now that the kit has been waiting for. I really wanted to finish my work on the Virginia in order to gain some experience. I chose this project because it is an example of the best in the world of model shipbuilding. The kit is of the highest quality and the instruction manual is a model of perfection. Moreover, I have many logs on this site and they are all very informative. I will try to show myself up to the height. When I bought the kit from Syren, I immediately ordered the wood necessary for its construction. The wood comes from Wood Project Source and it is really of excellent quality. I opted for two types of wood: the hull will be Cherry wood and the deck will be Castello Boxwood. The quality of laser cutting is truly exceptional. I start by assembling the 2 parts of the keel. The gluing is done between 2 plates of glass in order to have a really flat surface. A first blank assembly of the different elements of the keel only reinforces my opinion on the quality of the kit. Everything fits together perfectly. The stem is assembled. I feel like it's going to be pure pleasure

Thank you all. I really was able to learn a lot during this build. Bob, I will continue my work on the Medway longboat and especially start my next project which will be the magnificent Cheerful cutter. Glenn, I completely share your opinion on the AVS. It is really a very good model to start in this hobby.

I have officially finished my second ship model. I have to say the final details took longer than I expected. The base is also finalized. I used a copy of a maritime map as a background. I just have to add a descriptive plate. Thanks again to all the people who have followed my build. I will be able to resume work on the Medway longboat and especially start working on my next project: The Cheerful. Happy New Year everyone !

As I prepare the base for the Armed Virginia Sloop, I take this opportunity to add the moldings to the base of the longboat. I created a little jig to cut the angles at 45 degrees. I also extended the table at the back using a small removable stand to make it easier to cut long planks. The base has now received its four moldings. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy new year 2021 !

The two versions are nice. But if I had to choose, my choice would also be on the bottom image.

Beautiful deck planking. Very nice rendering with this coat of wipe on poly. The boxwood is really a very good choice for this deck.

Thank you for your kind words and thank you to all the 'Likes'. Unfortunately, the end of the year rhymes with overload of work at my office... I still move slowly on the final base. I hope to be able to finish during the end of year holidays if I can take a few days of vacation ... But it is not won...
