Hi, the guns are finished!!! A long slog, and obviously a few more to do when the Q deck and focsle are done.
I started by cutting the trunnions by hand but after breaking a few off I changed to a cutting disc on a small rotary tool
The fittings are all done in the bulwarks so the first dry fit of the aftmost cabin bulkhead has been done
A long way to go still, but I'm getting there.
Thanks for looking in and your continued interest.
There will be a short break as I'm off to the Yorkshire dales to do some hiking/walking for a week.
Cheers

It's taken me a while to get back to working on Winnie, I seemed to lose the motivation for modelling over the past 12+ months! Happily it's coming back

So, all the 12pdr carriages are done, 8 have no barrels, but they are on order, along with chapter 7 and the cap squares.
While I wait for chapter 7 to arrive, I will spend time making lots of ring bolts and split rings for the bulwarks, 125 is mentioned in the monograph.
All with barrels are placed in position. Im quite satisfied, even if I do say so myself.
The barrel less ones in the cabin area,
Thanks for looking, and hitting the like button.
Still no decision on whether to rig or not to rig the guns. Feedback will be gladly welcomed on this matter.

Thank you Chuck 🙂
I am still working my way through the construction of the cannon, I'm on my last batch of eight.
There are so many ring bolts to make, but I'm slowly getting there.
Thanks for you continued support and encouragement.

Hi, work continues gradually on the guns, and also the capstan and stove.
I have thoroughly enjoyed building the stove and capstan, such great little kits, that can be stand alone models
the stove is finished and also the capstan
As my guns are being painted I painted the capstan too
Thanks for your patience and following my dabbling.
Till next time

Good evening, as a small break from the repetitive gun carriages I decided to make the lower part of the capstan
Following the very precise instructions, I feel I have produced a passable capstan, with only one mistake!
The top of the barrel has five holes, which I completely ignored and didn't line them up with the holes for the bars.
Some gentle persuasion with a razor blade and the mistake was rectified.
Thank you for all your likes, and till the next time,
Cheers

So following the advice given by @glbarlow, the rest of my carriages will be pre-drilled before assembly.
The ones already assembled are being carefully drilled for the ironworks.
I have fitted the 7 ringbolts and 2 split rings to one cannon.
I am quite pleased with the result.
As for rigging the guns, I'm undecided, as of yet.
As can be seen in this photo the quoin has it's handle, which were provided in the carriage kits, although a couple of the packs have some thin square section, I presume to be used to make my own quoin handles.
Anyway thanks for watching and till next time,
Cheers

It’s easier to drill and add the various ring and eye bolts before assembly or at least drill the holes for them.
Yes, tbh, I never even gave making the holes a thought🙄
Thank you Glenn

I now have 8 carriages made up, although I have to give them another coat of paint and paint the beds and quoins.
Obviously I have to also make and fit the iron work on them too
Thanks Fred, I shall more than likely order those when I order chapter 7 and the remaining barrels I require.
It's good to be be back Chuck 😁
Thanks for watching .
Cheers till next time

Happy New Year to everyone!
So, work has started on the guns, it is going to take me a while to adjust to working at the small scale, after such a long time away from the modelling.
These are just a few photos of progress,
I have to say, Chuck's carriages are excellent and the barrels too. The jig is a great little tool and so helpful in constructing them.
Thanks for all your interest and watching my fumbling about.

Good news! The guns arrived!
Excellent service from Chuck and the associated postal services on both sides of the Atlantic. Thank you!!
Work on them will commence after the festivities are over. Thanks for your interest.

Hello again, after a long hiatus I'm back. Getting on for 18 months, I don't know where the time went!
The order for Winnie's guns has been placed, so it's just a matter of waiting for them to arrive.

Thank you Malcolm, as it happens, I did get to visit HRU in June 2022, also the RNLI boats housed in Sheringham Museum.
Both are a must if people find themselves in Sheringham or the vicinity, plus those places mentioned in Andrew's (@AJohnson) post above.
As an extra, the RNLI/Grace Darling museum in Bamburgh, Northumberland is well be worth a visit if ever up that way.
Many thanks for visiting my log Malcolm. This build will continue this winter.
Cheers

Hi all,
The second cabin bulkhead has been tested, tweaked and finally fitted. The door knobs caused me the biggest headache, as the ones Chuck supplies, I managed to break or lose most of them, so fashioned new ones from the offcuts of the cannon trunnions.
There are still only two beams glued in, as I daren't glue the others till I'm absolutely sure I can!!
It certainly gives Winnie a better look with these bulkheads fitted.
thanks for your support.
I still have some little niggles to sort out, but work progresses slowly.
Cheers
