I'm glad to see you've got over this problem, the grooves were an inspired idea, as were the threaded eyelets. On my Cutter I shelled out for some .8mm ply from CMB, a tad pricey for 600 x 300mm. Good work so far Bruce

That's decent weather for whitby end of August/early September, at least it's not raining. Judging by the water it wasn't windy either😀

This is what has to be done now, as everybody is upping the anti with their own builds😂 it's a good thing though as it pushes us mere mortals to challenge our skills 😁👍 If your breech line is anything to go by the side tackles will look awesome. 😉

Looking very nice Liam, great choice for the next project! there's one or two snake logs on here, I've yet to make the leap to more than one mast. Good luck with Snake but as you're doing fine with Sherbourne I'm sure you'll be just as good😁👍

Have a good trip Derek, Whitby is a lovely place and shouldn't be too busy! I love the way to put a ring on a block, I'm going to have shamelessly borrow that method

Good morning everyone, The decision to remove the planks was hard but as Chuck points out not to do so would have caused difficulties further into the build. So off they came and the lie of the wales was redone and carefully a "second" first strake was fitted, the rest just flowed and I'm back to where I was with the starboard wale first layer done. The gap between the port sills and the black strake now allows for a full 1/4" plank and a small amount of notching on the subsequent plank. I myself feel happier with the re-work. I've also made one of the bollards but have plenty of blanks on hand in case of mistakes. Thanks for all the likes and comments, they're appreciated. Till next time, Cheers 😁👍

I'd been looking it up too, I found it in this book, and basically gave same description as Sjors got. Patterson's Illustrated Nautical Dictionary, unabridged 1891.pdf

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
