  1. How far has it evolved ... Deathstar III or IV in the mean time? At least it works and the results are mighty fine. Those deck planks have a very nice caulking to it! Pitty can't get the same effect with a lighter. that's more to my wallet's liking
  2. Jack, The get more depth, you need a higher f-stop, as from f-16 it improves. Depending on your point of focus too of course
  3. Yes master Haven't heard that name in a while, Mark. It does, however, describe it rather well :D I'l be grasshoppering along Cheers
  4. Denis, Thanks, although I do like the brass as it is, some of it has discolourations, and as she will be painted, I'm no looking for additional complications by leaving the brass unpainted.
  5. Patrick, I see your creative juices are running free again. Looking good!
  6. Jack, F8 is nice, but I can't get the depth of focus I need at that f-stop. It gets to blurry to quick with the distance I have to the object. Besides that I need to get the iso down, as the pictures get to grainy. Idealy it should be 50 - 100
  7. Thanks, Ken. It means I cannot take pictures after dark, as I do not have the proper lighting - like Geatan - I'm saving up for a reasonable flash, and a lightbox. I presume you want to know what the tiny little perforated thing-a-me-jig is. As far as I could make up out of the drawings, AotS and some other papers, it should be a range finder. I have to say that the detail of some of the brass parts are really astonishing. It is a strange experience to put so much time in such tiny items. One would expect it to go faster.
  8. New and improved formula I got my studio tripod out, increased iso to 800, set f-stop at 20, et voilà if you look good, you see the front is perforated or slightly easier on the eyes ...
  9. Thanks Greg, but I feel the novice once again. It has been over 40 years since I build a ship of plastic, and in this size ... it is my first. As promised, some better pictures, at least light-wise, still need to improve the depth of focus.
  10. Nice progress, Denis. The details make her more ship like, instead of a mere hull.
  11. Pat, Denis, You are so right, I certainly do not want to make boo boos wit the PE, although I do have a CA solvent solution, I do not know what the result will be when I need to remove a PE part from the plastic. I might end up with a Musashi plastic puddle I make some pictures from my very limited accomplishments last week, this afternoon. Cheers
  12. I hope you are better with numbers, Chuck A meter is 3 1/3 feet ...
  13. Good to hear you feel better Dennis. Even better to see you at the tools again. Give my best wishes to Phyl. Cheers
  14. Geatan, A very, very lovely build, with a log that has more to it than a build log but is also partly a manual, or should I say a road map. Great legacy from you I might add. It is certain you will choose a very interesting build. I have just one question: Did you ever consider to build just the stern part of the ship with the cabins at large scale, an end cross section? Salutations
  15. I would expect 24 oars, 26 shields, and 26 chests. A chief and someone at the "rudder" are missing ...
