Thanks Janos for the suggestion! well, I've entered the most boring part of ship modelling... rigging the Ratlines @.@ # ## ### #### ##### ###### This is my first attempt, gone terribly wrong... very obvious hourglass shape.. so, I removed them all and reworked on them.. After few more hours of reworkings.. here's the result! hmm.. Although look much better, but the hourglass still slightly visible.. add a red line to make sure.. Ya, it's still an hourglass.. maybe I made a mistake here, I should have put on my futtock stave first before I started on the ratlines.. I'm thinking of reworking them, AGAIN! But it won't be in recent time, will seriously need to cool down myself on this.. Anyway, I'm off for a short vacation to Koh Samui, Thailand this weekend for the famous Full Moon Party!!! And on Sunday night, we'll have the largest Moon in the sky this year~!! Cheers! And hope you guys enjoy your special weekend!

Thanks Adrieke! I've found that £142.99 Hermione too! Thanks for informing that!

I'm currently struggling on this too.. my ratlines are creating a slight hourglass shape to my shrouds I'm thinking to rework on them.. Do you guys rig the futtock stave first? or start on the ratline first? i'm thinking of rigging the futtock stave first maybe can help giving (or adjust) better spacing between shrouds? because at the top area, the shrouds are already touching each other.. Any comment?

seems like AL doesn't win majority hearts.. maybe a 50:50? Anyway, when I was looking for my next build, I found this AL kit kinda cheap at this size! Only £153. Artesania Latina Hermione La Fayette 1:89 Scale: 1:89 Length: 750mm Height: 596mm Width: 290mm I've searched thru the net for more images on the Hermione build, but couldn't find many.. (around 10 are the ship images, the rest are Emma Watson) I've also learned that a replica is just launched last year or early this year at the same dock in France! The price is very attractive for me, but reviews here really make me worried about her quality and instruction.. Not sure if anyone of your have more detail info on this kit?

Thanks Harry for your kind words Yea, I'm from Penang but not on the island... my place is quite safe, a small old town called Bukit Mertajam. Anyway, it caused a tragedy... the storm killed one.. That 'thing' which is concrete made inside (yea, concrete.. that's why some local says that parts of the building were 'jerry-built'), fell STRAIGHT from 21st floor and hit a car with driver inside.. and cause a hole around 6m in depth on the road.. Latest news today: The rescue team couldn't find the corpse after days of efforts, and digging deeper will affect building structure nearby.. They stopped searching under victim's family's agreement his family then grab the soil near his car wreckage as his body back.. That's really sad.. RIP

Hey Mike, Really thanks for starting up this topic and sharing the photos.. I was wondering on Corel's kits quality until I read your topic The HMS Unicorn is also one of my wish list for my next build.. the cast metal quality looks good to me, especially the Unicorn figure head. oh ya, the link you share about the Unicorn's picture gallery is also very helpful! I love the wide deck of the Unicorn, and hope I can add more things on her Congrats for winning the kit! I'm so wish that I can get a kit right now!!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
