  1. That is very shiney! Thank you for the video. I must invest in one of those air guns. I see there is a thread on here for them so I will poke around. Cheers.
  2. Are you having trouble? I see you are building the USS Constitution, there are a couple of builds on this site. Check out there build logs to see how they mounted their rudders. Hope that will help you out.
  3. Also I'm on the hunt as well. Might try the army surplus store on Wellington street see if they have something.
  4. Another useful tool to have for your rigging lines is bees wax. The wax helps all those little fluffy strands disappear. Before attaching the rigging line to the model, run the line over some wax and pull through you fingers a few times.
  5. Most appreciative of the tips you have posted. I will certainly use this for reference when I come to that stage. Well done.
  6. I have a suction cup vice that worked well only for 10 or so minutes then it would loosen. So now I have it mounted onto a board. If I was to buy another i would do away with suction cups altogether.
  7. Your wheels are looking great! Just remember each wall plank you glue on is one less than you have to glue on later! I built the King Of The Mississippi a little while back and had a similar construction as the RE Lee. You doing great
  8. Have to say nail clippers are the way to go, well for me anyway. But it seems like you have a lot of support on this one. Now to choose.
  9. Wow 1/45th! That going to be a monster. You almost have to erect scaffolding to work on her. Looks like you are doing a great job. Looks awesome.
  10. I know what you mean. I think your best bet would be dgbot or Brian C and Augie answers. I used clear satin on my rattlesnake and it came out fine, not too shiny.
  11. You certainly know what you are doing! Looks amazing! So much attention to detail. Love it.
  12. I'm not sure of other kits but Mamoli for some reason instruct you to paint the ends of the yards white. But it's ok. That's an easy fix
  13. Absolutely unreal!! Awesome job and very neat and tidy. Good work! I love the clamps you made out of cable ties. I had never thought of that before. Thanks
  14. I know it is quite common for yards to be painted black with the tips of them white. I myself paint the yards but blackening them I'm not sure. Is this like some sort of stain for the wood?
  15. I see what you mean, but it is not necessary. Just as russ has pointed out with aligning each bulkhead as you go. This would give you the best support and alignment you need. And a lot easier.
  16. Yor sails really look great! You seem to have your head around all those rigging lines good work.
  17. Was amazed that a curling iron worked that well. I think I would be shot if the admiral found out I was using hers to bend wood.
