Looking very smart with the planks on the stem, keel and sternpost. Nice hull planking, looking real snug. Be proud of this model, I know I would be!

Very nice! I love the way that deck planking came up, looks amazing. How are you going to cover the Philips screws on your belaying pin racks? Some sort of filler? It's looking real great.

I bet the tea would do a nice job, just about as realistic as you can get. It dosnt stain even and goes patchy slightly which I think is realistic.

Interesting little build you have going on. I don't like that kit supplied rope either. I think I'll change it as well. Good job, looks neat.

Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship! A real gem. I still can't get over how well those rivets on your steel plates turned out. Excellent job.

An absolute brilliant model! So much attention to detail! Love the rivet tool you made out of old clock cogs. Maby I can give that a go myself! Looking forward to part 9 ! Good work.

Colored thread for rigging
S.Coleman replied to flying_dutchman2's topic in Masting, rigging and sails
I have agreed with the above comment, I always keep my ratlines and shroud lines the same color. Even the lines that run between the deadeyes. -
I have just purchased the royal yacht from mamoili. Looking through your build has given me an insight of what is to come. I will not be starting the build for a while as i have already another ship on the que, You done a very nice job and I think your surgeon would love this as a gift! Good work

Yeah, I wouldent risk it. Keep using that push stick for sure! I know that there are some pretty heavy duty gloves out there but nothing for what you are asking for. Stay safe

I know what it's like, sometimes you can't really see the mistake but in the back of your mind you know it's there! And you have to correct it otherwise you will always draw your attention to it.

Oh my! To be honest, buying a Victory as a first kit was way too much to bite off, let alone chew! But with that said, I say good on him! He gave it a shot and had a go. I know each and every one of us on this site has different skill levels. I'm not a master model shipwright so I'm in no position to judge. But with that said, yes it could of done with a bit more care. Good on him for trying but. Your doing a great job Dan it's coming along well.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
