Hello everyone,
Time flies, and I rarely get to the workshop these days. I'm about to start on the outer planks, and I'd like to incorporate the color scheme from the drawing into the monograph. Since I'm not a good painter, I'm trying to achieve this with wood. First, I want to pick up the black color of the waterline. To do this, I first marked the waterline with a laser and am starting to attach the first boards.

Hi Chris, it's great that you've started on La Renommee. Luckily, we have the full-frame drawing from our esteemed friend. How are you satisfied with the quality of Vahur? I'll definitely keep at it, as this wonderful frigate is also high on my build list and was the first monograph I purchased.

Hello everyone,
I have very little time at the moment as I am renovating the lower floor of my house. But every now and then I do find myself drawn to the workshop. Here are a few progress pictures.
I looked at the plans again and noticed that the planks seemed to be overhanging. @G. Delacroix was able to help me and confirmed it. So I dismantled the first two planks and replaced them.

Some more done
Before I started the planking I just did a quick check to make sure it was all square as I didn't want a wonky stern 🤣 I did this because I fitted it a long time ago when my measuring skills and equipment wasn't as good as today. It was only 1mm out on the port side so I squared it up with a rasp.
All of the planks are curved so I pre-bent them all just using Chucks edge bending technique and then got to work fitting them.
The last plank was the hardest as it's a moulding which makes the transition from the counter timbers to the overlap of the stern planking. I made a scraper and shaped it on the bench.
It was tricky to fit and I lost some of its detail but all in all I think it looks ok.
I like the side detail where the first 2 planks sit flush with the outer planking but the rest sit behind. Its also the only place where you can actually see the shiplap joints too.
So I'm going to continue working on the outer of the stern working my way upwards for now. More mouldings to make and more planks to pre-bend for the construction of it.
Mark
Good morning Mark, fantastic work on the planks, as always a feast for the eyes. However, I am not 100% sure that the two boards are flush. I am currently sending a request to Gerard about this. When I look at the plans, I get the impression that the two boards are a little longer to create a more harmonious transition.

Ben, I congratulate you on completing this wonderful model, it turned out fantastically. Syren's kit is simply fantastic and of high quality, just like all of her models. I wish you a happy new year 2025.

Good morning everyone,
the work on the Le Rochefort is coming to an end. A few small things will be done in the next few days, but nothing earth-shattering before the summer break begins. The Admiralty and yours truly are heading south and we will spend two lovely weeks on the coast of Croatia. Now a few final pictures, this time in original size with all the parts made so far and shown dry on the ship. This will also be the construction stage with which I will attend the international meeting in Evian in October. What still needs to be done after the holiday is the construction of the transport and exhibition showcases. I would like to thank you again for all the comments and likes, but also for the odd tip and the odd criticism, which is just as important as praise.

I can only agree with Mark, G. Delacroix is always very helpful, and when I have questions I always turn to him, although in the French forum. I can only recommend it, there you will find around 15 Le Rochefort and a chapter with general questions specifically for Le Rochefort. Among others, Adrian @a.sorolla is always there to help and advise.

Good morning Mark,
a really nice result despite all the circumstances. You did the only right thing by removing the floorboards and putting up new ones in that spot, even if it's difficult.
