  1. Rigging on the mast is beautiful, but I agree the wire is too stiff. Some insulated electrical wires are very flexible, maybe if you remove the insolation and color the copper . . . I'm sure you will figure something out you've done so good so far. Bob
  2. Ah the Friendship Sloop is such a beautiful boat. I'm pulling up a chair to watch this build. Bob
  3. As you can see the top of the mast is finely detailed with bands around the mast and rings holding the blocks to the bands. There is no band shown at the end of the gaff to mount anything to. If I forget about the word shackle and tie the end of the halyard to the gaff, what knot should be used? Bob
  4. I am building a gaff sail yawl and on the sail plan, which is also the rigging diagram, it has the word "shackle" at the top of the gaff. Is the topping lift attached to the line looped around the end of the gaff with a metal shackle, or is there a special knot called a shackle, or . . .? Curious minds want to know, and I do too. Bob
  5. In the factories where I have worked. The shears were used to make cases and covers for the products. The cut sheets that were later bent in the brakes were nice and flat but the strips that were cut off were always curled and warped. I you ever figure out how K&S cuts straight strips please let me know. Bob
  6. I can remember those days, but it's getting harder. I had a count down program running as a scream saver on my computer at work. But back to the boat. The planking is beautiful. Bob
  7. Thanks to all of you. You guys are great. It's comments like these that keep me building and posting. Thanks also to those that click "LIKE" and don't post. It lets me know you are all enjoying the build. Bob
  8. Hello all, and back to the boat. I mounted the bow and stern sprits, added the bulwarks and cap rail and put in eye bolts all over the deck for the rigging. I painted and put the hand rails on the cabin roof. I also added the companion way hatch, which still needs painting. If you look carefully you can see the anchor chocks at the bow, and that reminds me, I will need to make an anchor. Ah well, one thing at a time. Next are the masts, booms and gaffs and all the little bits that hold them together. Bob
  9. The new transom looks good. Sometimes we just have to bite the bullet and correct what we don't like. Nice job. Bob
  10. Your leather work was nice but it seems a shame to cover up such nice jaws. Bob
  11. That's about where I am also. But I never got the first yet. I keep telling myself, "Someday I'll make it." Bob
