  1. Very nice blocks, strops and spans!
  2. And to you also, Ed! Thank you for your contributions to our knowledge this year.
  3. Looks like you need to find the piece and glue it back, if you can. Otherwise, yes, a replacement. You need a solid 'landing' for the planks later. Be extremely light on those cross-grain areas!
  4. Beautifully made and finished, Karl.
  5. The ornamental serving - called puddening - was an anti-chafing measure to prevent iron rubbing directly against the anchor cable.
  6. Aie! That is some complex mini-machining. Good to see you back at work on Wespe, Wefalck.
  7. That's impressive freehand work on the lifelines. I'd have used a curved template as a steady!
  8. 'Scooch' is a new term to me, Toni! Very nice work on the turning stairs and handrails. Is it the angle of the photo or is the posterior aspect of the rudderhead cover skewed?
  9. I found some foil in a roll at Michaels - a craft shop chain in N. America. As you don't show where you live, I don't know if that's of any help to you or not!
  10. Nice to see you back at it, John.
  11. Read some of the planking tutorials that are 'pinned' on this site, such as Antscherl's 'Primer on Planking'. These should answer your questions, Don.
  12. That is the 64,000 dollar question. Volume I was many, many years in the making. It could be as long until Volume II appears. I do agree that Volume I is a very valuable source of information.
  13. And the season's greetings to you as well, Dick. I look forward to seeing how you solve the half deck issue.
  14. A rheostatically controlled soldering iron and moisture works for me on Castello boxwood, aka S.A. Boxwood.
  15. I suppose you will need to balance 'conservation' with 'restoration' on those lines. I'd be inclined to replace the obvious bad repairs and line that are not original to the model. You will still have the photographic record of them anyway. Does your client have an opinion on this?
  16. Looking forward to seeing the completed case, Mike! Happy holidays.
