  1. R, Your work is shockingly beautiful, whoa! congrats on your skills Michael
  2. Frank, YES, your weathered deck looks super nice ! Michael
  3. John, I'm sure that Scotty beamed him up. SO loved him (:-( Michael
  4. Frank, Nice update looking very sharp. Though I'm surprised that you did not have to shovel out some snow to make walkways in your work room (:-) Michael
  5. John, Yes, nice redo - now looks excellent and in scale. Certainly worth the effort, had you not done the fix, it would have probably gnawed at you everytime you looked at it, given how much attention to details that you have given to other areas of this great build. MIchael
  6. Ferit, Thanks for your nice remark, by-the-way many of us miss your work?? Your build log has been missing updates for a long time. I learned a lot from you when you started your log on MSW part 2. MIchael
  7. Frank, Edwin, Ferit, Thanks for your kind remarks. Always encouraging. Frank you folks need to get warmed up. Geezz what a winter this has been on the east coast of N America (:-( Has BC suffered less on "our side" of the continent? Michael
  8. George, Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated MIchael
  9. Hi Mates, Thanks for still dropping by for a look, and for “likes” as well as those nice comments, all much appreciated. I have not posted an update for a while, as I needed a mental break from the shipyard. I really enjoy the hobby and only want it to be always fun, and not a job; if you get my meaning. So with the positive energies returned started to work on installing the cannon lids. I envy those of you who enjoy your builds on a daily basis, so nice. That also allows for moving on to the next build -- Hmmmm….. Some thoughts: ••There is a bit of glue visible on the attached lid hinges. I will mount them all in full open positions so the hinges, let alone anything else will not be visible at the rear of the lids. So I was not as cautious as usual. It is probably overkill on my part; I could have just as easily just glued the lids to the hull just above the cannon ports and be done with it. ••The most forward lid’s openings are partially blocked by the bowsprit framing; I may just pull out those two cannons and keep the lids closed. ••Corel does not indicate that these two cannon ports are needed, but I added them during my later research on this build. Had I moved the openings further aft, they would have been too close to the next openings along the hull. Oh well. After I install and properly position all of the lids I’ll post some completed pics. Cheers, Michael
  10. Theo, Good luck with your new employment challenge. (:-) Michael
  11. As many of us are, you may be on the verge of needing help and intervention, this post is indicative of that (:-) CHEERS Michael
  12. Mark, Number two is coming along nicely. I also had to think through those two small corner details next to the upper towers. Yes the Corel needs lots of attention and changes Hmmmm Interesting that you found positive energy to go right back to the same ship a second time. Though the Corel has its good points as well. Michael
  13. Andy, In case that you did not already know about these two sources. http://www.wasadream.com/modeles/Clayton/wasaclaytonenglish.html (Clayton's build is world famous (well in our comunity) http://www.wasadream.com/Index/indexenglish.html (Wasadream has many many photos as well) The museum has also released Vasa I, with Vasa II "soon" to be published. Fred Hocker has noted that Vasa II will be with the model builder in mind, whereas Vasa I is historical in nature along with the bulk of the very interesting book having to do with the search, resurrection and its preparation for the museum. Cheers, Michael
  14. Andy, Thanks for looking at my build log, very nice of you. I appreciate your nice thoughts. Good luck with your Corel Wasa. Looking at your gorgeous Prins Willem, the Wasa should be a lot of fun artistically for you. Have you been to the Vasa museum? PS: I have not updated my build log in a while I should post some updates very soon. Regards, Michael
  15. Joachim, This ship may be you best one so far. Your attention to the smallest details is so nice. Beautiful work. Michael
  16. John well if you can ever read this -- that is Nice update, (:-) MIchael
  17. Alexandru, A stunning work of art. Great update. You are building a miniature exact replica, plank-by-plank. astonishing !! Michael
  18. JM, You were wise with your choice of kits, Some of us building the Corel version have had to deal with many more inaccuracies with that kit. Billings did a much better job creating this kit. There are, and have been several Vasa's here at MSW. Lot's of info available, the best of which, of course are the several hundred photos of the ship in Stockholm. SUper useful if you plan to be as accurate as possible. It is a beautiful example of the 1600's. Good luck MIchael
  19. Frank, Your masts are looking very excellent. Very nice work (;-) Michael
  20. OK !! Buck, Now you need to miniaturize a can of Dry Dock amber ale, put it into your bucket and add some ice. Then I would pay attention -- ha ha Awesome work Michael
  21. Theo, I can't believe (yes I can) that you have surpassed yourself AGAIN !! You work is amazing. Last two updates - as has been said WHOA !! Cheers, Michael
  22. NIgel, Always a pleasure for the eyes looking in on your builds. This one in particular has spectacular woods, as has been noted. You so captured the nuances of the shades. Michael
  23. Frank, With apologies dear mate, I finally went back and very carefully studied your solutions to the terrible Corel included kit platforms. Your platform fixes are Brilliant. Very creative and excellent looking results next to the 1/1. Kudos my friend. Made a folder of your excellent pics. Thanks for the detailed step by step. My tools are missing some of your excellent pieces, but I can work around that, I think, Again, glad that I went back into your log to carefully understand how great your work is. Cheers, Michael
