  1. Welcome to MSW, William. Do start a log as it's great way get help and meet others.
  2. I fear that someone trying one these things today in an industrial plant would be facing some serious threats to his/her employment.
  3. Just curious, doesn't Jim sell the belts?
  4. Sounds like a good plan. I do have a question.... will the figures have to taken off the dio to move it? I'm just wondering about getting through a doorway.
  5. That's one of my concerns. I'm assuming this can installed on a computer instead of smartphone (I would hope). So can the books be printed out on home printer? I'm concerned about the "backup" and access to the data as since the dark ages of the web I've seen too many companies that did thing like photo "storage" disappeared without warning and everyone who had data/photos there was up creek.
  6. I do like those photos taken with the optovisor. I can't quite figure out why though. Sort of like night is falling and things are winding down since there's not a lot of men..
  7. Well, every guy has a hobby they spend money.... models, golf, and/or beer.
  8. Do a search here one MSW for copper patina. More than few have done it, I'd suggest starting the Painting and Finishing area. We do have a search feature here... upper right hand corner.
  9. I forgot about that not even sure I do remember. I was thinking of what I've done at least once.
  10. I didn't notice as I was rather overwhelmed just looking at the photos.
  11. Wonderful work. I think this era and ship type are seldom done yet attractive because they are so "different".
  12. Looks good and that with the flying boat on the box behind makes an interesting statement.
  13. Looks great, Bob. Your a better man than I Gunga Din. I suspect I would parts flying all over the room by now if I tried that.
  14. I can hear folks drooling and hoping for one those boxes. Hopefully no fistfights.
  15. That little cutie has a look that says "you're going to holding me more than you think, but I'll keep your face wet".
  16. All things considered that sounds like the normal approach. At least you didn't reach for a large hammer.
  17. I think yours has the most "wow" power probably the size allowing for detail and all the details being added. Just a thought herer. I give some though to securing the island to the deck and anything else to the hull. Consider if nothing maybe using some pins. I've seen too many RC boats over the years roll over or flood for some reason and sink. I'd hate to read where something happened and things fell off.
  18. If he's giving lessons, sign me up and maybe all of us can a group rate for a hotel.
  19. Looks like any number of machines that come out of China. They do need some tweeking. Have a look at LittleMachineshop guide on small lathes (attached below). They also have a variety of documents in their learning center. Document - MiniLatheUsersGuide.pdfMiniLatheUsersGuide.pdf Learning center main page for documents: https://www.littlemachineshop.com/Products/product_new.php This is also a good link for info https://www.mini-lathe.com/
  20. The Marines taught us to use Purple K. The catch is... it burns and the residue smothers the flames. But, if someone hit it with water while it the metal was glowing it break the shell of the residue and the fire would re-erupt. Oh... and PPK gave off very nasty flames we were told.
  21. They also made one that had some radioactive chemicals. I wanted one but my gave me very emphatic "NO". We tried making and succeeding in making nitroglycerin in high school. The stuff worked and still surprised we didn't blow ourselves to smithereens. I still can't believe some of the stuff we got away with back then.
