I go along with Ken on the kudos. I"m happy she suffered no damage in the "oops". -
Welcome to MSW, Phil. Give some though to a build log. It's a good way to meet others here.

Welcome to MSW, Maxx. Follow Chris's advice as to other projects and also start a build log. The log is a great way to get help.

Timber-framed outdoor kitchen - Cathead - 1:1 scale
mtaylor replied to Cathead's topic in Non-ship/categorised builds
Sorry to hear about the hand and the sting. Not fun when they sting you. The kitchen is looking good and so are the pears. I've never seen them cover the pear trees here and we have miles and miles of orchards all over the valley. Some places though did use "bird cannon"... fired a charge of natural gas if I remember right and that kept the birds away. Haven't heard one going off in a long time though. -
Looks great, Ted. The next builds sound great also. As for finishing this log.... simply goto the first post and click the 3 dots (upper right) then hit "edit". Just add "FINISHED" to the title after your name and before the "Amati". Just make sure the dashes are there to separate things a bit. If there's problems, contact a moderator.

Excellent recovery, Steven. I'm glad you were able to make repairs. You've come to far to walk away from this.

How many ships rattle?
mtaylor replied to harlequin's topic in Building, Framing, Planking and plating a ships hull and deck
I pretty much try to get the stuff immediately. Old habit I guess from way back back in my military days to recover debris ASAP from the choppers. Keep that habit when I worked on my drag racer. Learned to get the debris/parts out a quick as possible lest they be forgotten and then destroy the engine. -

Obviously "air show" mode with the black tail on the "slot" bird. Good times back in the day at air shows. -
To answer your question about deck fittings and sanding... I'd open the deck as needed coamings, etc. but not put them on until after it's sanded.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
