Thanks Keith. I haven't totally lost my marbles yet.

Didn't many of the bowsprit stays have a zig-zag pattern to running of what's being called "ratlines"? It would be one line run back and forth from the tip of the bowsprit to the hull. I don't remember it's just on few ships (types and countries) or just done during a timeframe in history.

F-86F-30 Sabre by Egilman - Kinetic - 1/32nd scale

Some regard "interesting time" as a blessing with hope, but many also see it as curse. Let's hope it's the former and not the latter. -
Argggghhh!!!!!!! A ship hitting the floor is never good news. I'd suggest you try repairs and making some new parts as a learning effort for possible future scratch builds. If it doesn't work out, then order a new kit.

If you want to remove the oars, think about a hole drilled through the top (the round area) where the oar fits. Then do a lock screw through the hole and into the oar. There's probably a better way but this is just off the top of my head as a simple way to do it.

If you haven't done so, there's a link provided in post #43 of a document made by the former owner of Hobbymill on the care and feeding of the Byrnes saw. -

That's great news on Eduard doing the fret. I believe you're right about not many companies go that extra mile for customer service anymore. As for your upcoming absence. I hope it all goes well and you get a full recovery. Recently was there myself and all's well now. -
I'd do what Alan suggested. Hopefully, there's enough planes to help hide the ones without the PE.

I moved this from the scratch area to the kit since it's a kit.

That's good to hear, Ken. -
Mike. Can you post the actual build in the proper log area because if goes any further here, I'll be way off topic on this section of MSW? Thanks.

Hmm.. just like you did here. What kind of "choice" were you looking for? -

I have one set and used it once. I think it's the older one since at that time they only had one set listed. I've found it easier just take an old razer blade and cut and shape to what I need. No fiddling with trying to make it work on a wood size they don't support. -
As somewhat of a luddite, I'm with you, but the world has moved on. MSW is probably the closest I come to social media.

You might also look around for places that sell "used" kitchenware... especially commercial items. They do make large pans like what you've made for bakeries, etc. I had one some years ago I bought used. And I'll add that lately 2nd hand stuff is pretty inexpensive as the shops that handle there have more offers of stock than customers.

Here ya' go. Just click and save to a folder. Use at your discretion and risk. And now back to the build.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
