    Hi everyone and a big thanks to all who hit the Like button and a special thanks to Igor, Jeff, Lawrence, Piet, Marty, David, Dennis, Michael, Bob and Row. Thank you all for your comments and feedback. The weather vane was a bit of fun, but honestly, I could sneeze and it'll disappear!!! That's how small it is. Now I know how careful Igor has to be with the tiny fixtures that he builds! Jeff - thanks for stopping by again. Yep, I have to admit that it was partly your encouragement as well as Igor's (amongst others) that has led me to adding sails to Rainbow! If it wasn't for you guys, I probably wouldn't have been so brave. Now, that I have, I'm glad that I tried them. I'm looking forward to doing the final sails later.     Hi Jond That's some really nice metal work you've got there, especially the aft-bit that's sheaves in brass. The turnbuckles also look nice but fiddly; so I take my hat off to you for your perseverance at getting them done. I also really like the colour of the deck. It has a warmth and richness to it that's really welcoming. All the best as your progress continues. Cheers Patrick

    Hi Dennis Absolutely brilliant so far, as always. One question, though. In terms of displaying the finished ship, will you put it in a glass case with the booms extended or stowed? Either way, she's looking great. Cheers Patrick

    Hi everyone Well tonight I had a go at making the wind vane and aerial that sits right up the very top of Rainbow's 150ft mast. They took me all night and I can't say that it was easy. I can't even say that the results were worth the effort because they're so tiny and so insignificant, that you'd literally need a maginifying glass too see the wind vane clearly. In fact, I can't even photograph them clearly. Oh well, here goes anyway...I warned you! The photo is a bit blurry and, and, and let's just say, you may need to add a dose of imagination in order to see them clearly. Oh, and just for the sake of it, I couldn'nt resist adding another photo of the mocked up sails...I just love the way the Genoa curves around the deck line of the hull when viewed from above looking down...     Hi Gwyl, Row, Vaddoc, Dennis, David, Mark, Piet, Marty, Michael, and everyone who hit the Like button. I must admit to feeling pretty humbled by everyone's comments, feedback and helpfulness. Thank you all so much!!! It's through such feedback and support that makes MSW so enjoyable. I'm still working on tidying up Rainbow's rigging and other assorted areas. Once I've received Igor's sail material, I'll then be able to make a start on the sails. In the meantime, it's little by little at this stage. I'll post more update photos later on. Cheers Patrick

The reason I'm asking is because it's shaping up to be a very attractive model-nice lines, beautiful colours, striking in its simplicity, yet with just the right amount of details to add character and realism.     Hi Lextin...(Mike I hope you don't mind - I don't mean to hijack your posts) Hearing that your story about your footy Voyager had a nice and positive ending was good to see. Unfortunately, in my case, I can only surmise that the rudder linkage broke, causing the rudder to somehow jam in the midship position. Then, because the lee deck was completely awash, water must've have entered the hull and flooded the electronics because the winch did respond intermittently before it gave up with the sheets stuck in the close-hauled position. The wind was so strong (approx 30 knots), that it didn't matter what I did, it was just pushing the yacht further and further away from the shore. Anyhow, such is life! Cheers Patrick

    I'm constantly amazed with this model. The more you look at the ship, the more details begin to pop up at you. So much so, that before you know it, if you stare long enough, you'll begin to see pipes, cables, Red fire extinguishers, decals, compass roses, black rubber seals around doors, not to mention the 'Watch Your Head' sign; in fact, all the sorts of things that are left off other models. Amazing stuff!
