Cooling at the outside of the hul. I also finishes the bowplate and some other things. Just decided to make a keel also before making the moulds. Than every hull will be complete with keel.

Aren't you at the point of "overdetailing" your plug?

The ditance betrween those stripes is so small, i wonder whether you will get a nice mould/hull out of that without a lot of problems of not fully filled details after pouring your hull.

I agree. I am sorry to sound negative, but you are putting a lot of effort into the plug and it would be a shame to spoil it all because you either lose the detail in the mould or you find you cannot separate the mould from the plug. Remember the mould will be a hard shell, not a flexible shape. It must pull free from all the details in a single rigid piece. If there are details that trap the mould on the plug you will damage either the mould or the plug pulling them apart. Damaging the plug probably doesn't matter if the mould is good - but you will then have the same problem when you try and take a hull from the mould. It makes no difference that the mould is in two halves if there is an "undercut" in the details that will trap or damage the moulding.

At the very least use lots of release wax!

the plug is looking good.  I can't wait to see the first hull out of the mold.  How many do you plan to make?

you're the expert

Was that one below the belt, Jan?

I have never pretended to be an expert. When one builds form scratch one hase to make choices and take risks. I have watched orther people building moulds and after carefully considering all the pro's and con's I dicided to do it the way I do now. I have good faith that it will work but it is exciting for me too. I hope you enioy my buid and support me in my efforts to build this ship.

More work done on the KW88.

Prepare the moulds for laminating. It will be a two part mould. First I will prepare and laminate the first half and after that I will remove the wooden plate and laminate the second half. I have never done this before so it will be exciting. It will take some weeks before I can show the results.

Ah yes, I see what your plan is Cees.  I figured already that the two half mold method is the only way to be able to separate the molds from this quite busy plug.  Good thinking Cees and I'm sure it'll work.

Well I believe they are. I feel honored to build the models for them. They are two hardworking fishermen on the ship. The models are very important for them.

The thing is. Now I am building two... why not three? Two for the fishermen and one for me. Have to think about that

Hello fellow shipbuilders,

Meanwhile I made the roof and the so-called "Pet" and that makes the bridge really complete. It was very hard to find the correct shape and it took me more cardboard and ps plate than I wanted. But at the end it worked out well.

Something which will be nearly vissible when the model is ready.

Hi Kees

Mmmm....I wonder. Is it the internal accommodation of the cabins that you're also going to be building???

Cheers
