HMS Victory by GrandpaPhil - Mantua - Scale 1:98 - Kit-Bash

I’m glad that you liked the cannons!  Thank you very much.

Daliab, you will most likely see a very close twin of the keel clamp when I build my next ship.  Thank you very much.

I am making eyebolts and putting them on the breech of Victory’s guns.  My method for making them is simple because of where they are going.  I just make a curly Q and cut then off.  For an eyebolt anywhere else, I do the same and bend the loop back to make the traditional eyebolt shape.

They are a bit large for the scale, but that cannot be helped due to the wire I have and the scale to of the model.

Nifty job with such tiny stuff. Annealed wire is pretty tough so I imagine it will keep its shape.  The little cannons are great. I am just a newbie but I enjoy watching these kinds of thngs.

I’m pre-tying rigging blocks to eyebolts to make installing easier.  I need to make 72 of them.

These are Tichy HO scale eyebolts with 3mm double blocks from Model Shipways.

For those having difficulty with rigging thread fuzzing out, I use a block of beeswax to prevent this.467F1477-E422-441C-A53F-597532626C24.thumb.jpeg.594a22f141e4fff7fa1cac4dd4a28782.jpeg

Yes, white.  I used a faux metallic technique with two shades of gray and finished by highlighting with white.

Thank you both for the comments!  Thank you everyone for all the likes!

All guns now have eyebolts, complete with double blocks.  They are complete.

It is now time to resume work on the ship herself.  I drilled all holes for the eyebolts yesterday.

I am doing the same thing by preattaching blocks to eyebolts prior to installation.  The eyebolts for the breech ropes will be made from that annealed wire.

The eyebolts located beneath the quarterdeck and spar deck will have their breech ropes pre-tied to them.

The rigging blocks for the forward guns are installed:

At this point, all she needs are the eyebolts for the breech ropes, except for the bow chasers, which don’t have breech ropes.846DAAF0-9B71-42D1-850C-A90ECC936742.thumb.jpeg.2007c4348ef6219ae89dc91e542491dc.jpeg

Next up, 36 eyebolts!

All guns that require breech ropes, have them:

The first set of guns have their tackle (inhaul anyways, the outhaul wouldn’t fit).

I finished the upper gundeck rigging and am moving on to the quarterdeck guns rigging.

Technically speaking, I don’t need to rig the spar deck and quarterdeck guns yet, but...why not?

The first quarterdeck gun is rigged.

Note to self-person: always make sure other rigging is on the correct side of the rigging you are working with BEFORE securing the rigging with glue.
