Hawker Tempest Mk.VI by Javlin - FINISHED - Special Hobby - 1/32 - PLASTIC - Egypt 1949

I am beginning to think I have some gremlins in the shop that likes gear bay doors this is the second one in about 4/5 months now and I have hardwood floors?Just a couple more effects and she's ready for paint by the way it is riveted .The inside of the door the riveting sucks outside looks pretty good.

The last pic just shows they area equal stacked on top of each other.

I too lost one of my 1:32 P-51D LG doors somewhere in my shop. I have looked and looked but it hasn't turned up yet. When I least expect it or no longer need it, it will probably turn up.

RFID chips? Maybe get your dog to sniff it out, properly muzzled so as to not eat the tinier pieces? Dog noses are 7K times more powerful than any of us possess.

mea culpa; my workshop is too cluttered. I must clean it out/clean it up. too many places for gremlins to hide.

Mine is, too. I lose HO scale clevises with some regularity. My find rate is about 30%. I use a good flashlight/torch and the little blighters seem to find obscure little crevices to hide in or bounce into an open kit box lid. 😁

Well if that little gremlin struck again she's not going to be ready for the show this W/E.I was building the tailwheel assembly a piece flipped out the fingers hit the chest and went under the desk on a hardwood floor and that's all it wrote.That little POS grabbed it up and off to his hole it went.The first pick is the factory the white part is what I had to make nothing hard just 30/45 more minutes even got the bolt heads with the punch.The next pic is the rockets and to get a decent crisp lines.I first glued a bigger diameter to my plate and beveled the inside of the tube to cover the light grey all the rockets had been painted in and then painted the green.The next step was to tape off the area below the white/grey for the bottom of the red stripe and got a smaller diameter tube beveled and glued it to the platform and sprayed the red.I think if will work still got some more brush painting but the jig worked.

Well Fellas I hope she measures up to standards.I had a few challenges along the way history,paint and loosing LG parts!I think the Florrys Sand blended everything together quite well kinda hid some of the paint issues methinks.The last pic is just to show "yes" I almost forgot to add the tube.She is in the cabinet now but it needs it's yearly cleaning/dusting that may happen today getting the table ready for a little 1/72 F-106 Dart this one will be shinier

That they are AJ  thinking of doing another Mk VI I have this kit pegged now.

A splendid model, a true miniature of the real 'plane. Well done!

 

Such a shame the 'Sabre' engine was put behind the prioritised 'Merlin' by the procurement ministry.

Both engines were being developed pre-war.

RR won the lobbying war and did a fine job with their contribution to the British war effort.

It was a simple matter of marshalling limited resources.

 

The hard to build Spitfire also got the nod over 'Tiffy' development at the same period, though you can't argue with how Supermarine continuously refined their product.

 

The only 'Tiffy' remotely capable being put back in the sky belongs to Kirmit Weeks.... time will tell.

Thanks Alan I am glad I stuck it out.The very last piece of LGDoor was about to be added again it went for the floor I never heard it hit the floor for 10 minutes I looked to no avail!I said no way but I did it anyway took off the shoe it fell in the hole of my work shoe(1" hole) I went WTH

Well you know we had that discussion paint or metal and across other boards all said orders were Silver Dope.🤨 The pics I saw the more I am thinking the a mix make it look like the pic was all I could strive for she real close.

I have been watching that they are working with one in the UK that looks to be a flyer also  methinks it's a Mk-II(?)swapping parts  and an engine some where's in the action.

Thanks Ken I have been pushing myself pushing myself of late on weathering and such baby steps unlike Doc Rob well he goes full tilt I think his brain is just a little bit bigger than mine.

This is a very nice and credible result. This impressive aeroplane with a metallic finish looks great. The metallic finish with the grey patches, its muted reflection and subtle discolorations looks authentic and very 'aeronautical'.
