Your craftsmanship is perfect, what a fantastic job of planking the whales and the rest of the hull. I have to ask what type of wood did you use between the bulkheads and how did you add the filler?

PS, your work continues to look fantastic as usual!

Ed, I see that you used twisted wires for both the stirrups and foot ropes have you covered this before and I missed why you used wire as opposed to rope? and would it not be better to use smaller diameter wire in groups of three to look more realistic as rope? I have also read some where that the stirrup was actually nailed to the yard and wrapped around it 3 times before dropping down, can you show a clearer picture of how you attached the stirrup? Thanks Guy

Guy is still here! and my Triton is still siting on my work bench! have done very little work on it but have not taken it off the todo list yet. Life sort of takes over when you least expect, I actually retired in January but started a project in the house which my wife and I have been planning for several year, "remodeling the kitchen" actually turning every thing up side down! I still work on models when I have an occasion, I now have 5 in the dry-docks. I promise you I will get back to my Triton build before the end of the year!

Kurt could you help me locate a set of hull lines plans for a Woban class yard tug? many were used by the army and Navy in the 40's and I was stationed on several during the 60's. at some point I would like to build one.
Thanks Guy Bell

Fantastic build Clare! I think that its amazing the one can build using card, forget that all the good stuff is printed.

an impressively incredible build. The job you have done with the hexagonal tiles and the dragon's head have been outstanding! There is a model of a Turtle ship in the Ventura CA Museum

Thanks Lawrence! If I ever get back to it!!! if you followed the builds that were provided I think you will see that most of us did not use the rap around building board but as you can see from about page 4 on I do have a building board just not one that wraps around the upper part of the frames. This is my first build of this type and as you can see I have a long way to go on it. It seems that every one in the shipyard has gone on vacation, LOL

Its all quite confusing but looking at the complete plans will answer a lot of questions most. that being said are the wires attached to the sheet chains only temporary? I am sure your volume on rigging and masting will answer a lot of questions that you are unable to address here.

Great start and another Washington build I will be watching. I love your work bench top and that "Chevalet de Marquetry" is quite a piece of machinery, would it not be more accurate for cutting out the frame pieces than your Excalibur?
