  1. Even as a waterline model it's going to be massive. I will check in occasionally to watch your progress
  2. And that would be a go for paper modelers
  3. Could you do the same thing with silkspan? Those do look pretty fantastic!
  4. The carving set is beautiful and I am sure that all builders would love access to carvings such as these for what ever they are build.
  5. Beautiful! well done and love the base in marble but think she is sitting up a wee bit high.
  6. I have the Le Grose Ventre on my build list, I will be watching with much interest. Thank you for starting this log
  7. and here all the time I've been throwing them away! geez
  8. Beautiful build! Love your attention to detail....esp the babbit bearings for your winch
  9. Nice start! Looks like a sweet model watching with interest.
  10. Ok for doing it half right!
  11. Sweet, nice. I have all my wood strips in a cardboard box so when I need a certain size or type piece of wood I have to dig! I like this idea and using tubes I can store any length in the tube and it is clear so I can see that piece. This goes on my list of do,s
  12. Got some of those. Find out where you can buy a supply of sanding belts, they tend to get a little expensive otherwise. Do not use oil if you plan on gluing any thing to the surface
  13. Water based or oil based? I would use water based and dilute with water brush on and wipe off with cloth. Let dry then apply again if needed.
  14. first wood kit? looks like you are doing perfect!! yep diluted stain, no paint.
  15. Great start! There are better grade plywood's, but you won't see the inside and as long as you use a sufficient amount of glue and proper fastners it should not be a problem and you can add blocking where you think you will be needing the extra support.
  16. Can't wait until you move back to the Cutty Sark build, but I can totally understand about loosing interest especially when you run against the more difficult parts of the build.
  17. fascinating idea though perhaps it could be applied to plastic modeling where mast and spars have more of a tendency to bend from pressure of the rigging or perhaps an epoxy glue would prohibit expansion/contraction of metal and wood when applied to adhere the metal and wood together.
  18. How do you keep the sanding drum from spinning? Is it that tight on the roller and if so is it hard to remove and replace?
