  1. Here is the pumps. The instructions state should use a piece of supplied styrene for the handles. Then paint it "any color of brown to give it a wood color". Instead I carved them from some planking stock. I think the result was pretty good.
  2. So more binnacle. I was able to get the rear sliding doors done as well as the front companionway doors done.
  3. 4 Hours! I would of had 2 planks on one side done in 4 hours. Looking nice.
  4. I understand the ratlines are some of the most difficult of lines to get right. You seem to have done very well.
  5. Very nice ports. Excellent photography as well, they really show the scale of this nice build. p.s. Eve... won't let you leave... will try to suck you back in...
  6. I really like the way the keel came out. The finish is so nice. It really looks like it is composite/fiberglass.
  7. Thanks Pete. Today is the "smelly" day. At least it is nice outside and kinda cool so the poly will be easier to deal with. I like sitting on the back patio working on this.
  8. The companionway/binnacle. Pieces and parts. Starting to build it up The doors will be added after a wipe-on poly session tomorrow.
  9. Quarterdeck next. Waterways, bulwark planking, deck planking, hatch, bits, and companionway. Poop deck only has a bit of bulwark planking and the preparation for the rudderpost hole thingy.
  10. Thanks, Carl, Pete, Bob and Ben. I am really looking forward to making some great headway this weekend.
  11. I am just getting into the real meat of this book and it is definitely enjoyable. So much information its going to take a while. Thanks for writing up this review. I also hope there is another work in the future.
  12. So I finally got a bit of time and was able to get the forecastle stuff done. I need to do a wipe on poly session and blacken the cannons/stack.
  13. Isn't the Ships in Scale magazine running a multipart/multi-issue article on this? I cannot remember if it was scratch or the MS kit. Wil check when I get home.
  14. The gun rigging looks very nice. How did you know what size line and blocks to use/order? (I assume I have that info somewhere in my library but haven't found it yet...)
  15. My current project doesn't have any boats to worry about but I will be moving onto the Constitution in a bit. Will be interested in hearing peoples thoughts on this. I was able to pick up a copy of W E May's The Boats of Men-of-War a little while ago. This is a nice little book which has a large amount of information in it. What was very nice for me was that the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the book was all about the different types of boats (i.e. pinnace vs longboat vs jollyboat etc etc) also including slang common terms etc. Lots of great pictures and charts of scantlings etc. Also has rigging of boats and arming of the boats sections as well. Here it is on AMAZON Cheers
  16. How awesome is MSW that you can get an answer like that!!'
  17. Its going to be interesting to see the keel come together.
  18. Wow, I am amazed at the level detail and precision in your work.
  19. I finally got one of my partners to admit in front of the wife that his membership initiation in the country club was 24k. She doesn't complain too much anymore when I buy a new book or tool.
