Thanks again for the likes, comments and views everyone. Painted the belfry, added the brass bell, carved and filed the supports for the skid beams from square section limewood then stained using ronseal dark oak stain/ varnish. Also added the kevels (billings didn't actually include the kevels for the main yard lifts so added these). Need to start thinking about adding fastenings for the rigging too before i start the hammock nettings. The rail at the front of the quaterdeck isn't actually glued in place yet. have fun all and happy modelling all. Keith

it makes life easier for rigging the forestays- no masses of shrouds to negotiate- i do rig temporary forstays to stop the masts being pulled out of line. As regards billings Victory Steve the mizzen and main pass through two decks so these guide the angle of the masts. I have the billings bounty in my stash too and have the frames in place and the deck planked so far so know what you mean Keith

painted the skid beam assembly and finally got it fastened in place. Next job is the supporting pillars- also stained the pin rails and assembled the ladders into the waist- added a piece of veneer to the outside edge to disguise the slots in the ply sides to them. also need to paint the belfry black. have fun all and thanks again for the views and likes everyone. Keith

Hi again and tanks for the comments likes and views all. Billings didn't intend the guns to be rigged so decided to add the breeching ropes, but for the sake of sanity didnt add the blocks and tackles. also drilled into the leading axle on each carriage and the deck to pin the guns in place- dont want these bad boys coming loose! Have fun all Keith

ty Janet- the billing kits can have a lot of plastic especially the earlier ones. The later ones do use a lot of laser cut ply though. Managed to get the chainplates fastened to the hull- the brass cleats still need painted black. Have fun all and thanks to all those who pop in to have a lookaround. Keith

Ty for the views likes and comments again everyone. Finished painting the figurehead, and got the supports for the channels attached- used the fittings supplied for the chainplates by billings for these. Also getting further on with the guns on the upper gun deck and nearly ready for rigging them (need these fitted before I can carry on fitting out the f'sle deck with the belfry and skid beams). Also added the etchings from the sergal 1/78 victory etchings set I bought for the stunsail booms(billings didn't provide for these). sorry the pics are a bit blurry. Till later, have fun all. Keith

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
