  1. Hi Denis and happy 2017 to you and the family. Finely got a chance to catch up on all the builds that are going on. Great ship, the Thermopylae. I still have a kit on the shelf waiting. Mine is about 55 years old and a Revel plastic. Looks like you are having fun with this one and hope there is spot for me. Cheers,
  2. Good seeing you back in the shipyard again Remco. I fully understand other things getting in between like what's happening with me right now. Actually, when you get right down to it, wood is naturally "laminated" from one year's growth to the next. All you are doing is mimicking nature and knowing you it'll be indistinguishably ! Keep the mojo going my friend. Cheers,
  3. Hello Nenad, Sorry for my long absence to your beautiful ship but I'm caught up now with the progress. Very nice work you have done on the hatches, very believable. Beautiful addition to the family too Nenad. The ship's boats will be a challenge for sure. I also did a plank on frame build for the submarine O19 dinghy. It is 3 inches long (76 mm) so you should have no problem with it. I actually made the frames like they would do in the shipyard. You can check it out by clicking on link below, if you have the time. When I get to making the ship's boats for the VOC ship I'll try the plug method, seems easier. Gwen and I wish you and your family a very good and healthy new year. Cheers,
  4. Finally caught up with your outstanding build Patrick. Awesome progress. That silver bottom better be a saltwater protection coating because aluminum doesn't like saltwater very much. It's called corrosion But you knew that. Gwen and I wish you and your family a very prosperous and healthy 2017 with much enjoyment with your builds. Cheers,
  5. Hello Nils, I'm back again, dropping in whenever I have a spare moment. Fantastic progress, she's looking so beautiful! Gwen and I wish you and your family a very prosperous and healthy 2017, with the completion of this fantastic build. Cheers,
  6. Hello Dave, Great start with a beautify ship. Glad you chose a large scale so you can add plenty of detail on her. Gwen and I wish you and the family a very prosperous and healthy 2017. Cheers,
  7. Fantastic progress Denis and a very prosperous, healthy 2017 to you and the family. Cheers,

  14. Hello Nils, I'm back and caught-up from early October. We had a little setback due to hurricane Matthew but are more or less at a normal stage now. What fantastic progress you have made in these few weeks. Marvelous work and craftsmanship. Your model shines and worthy to be displayed in any museum. Cheers,

  16. Finally caught up with you Nils, great progress and very realistic looking cleats and bollards. Love the deck chairs, brings back memories from a few sailings on ocean liners, to and from Holland to Indonesia. I'll try to stay up with your very fast work. Cheers,
  17. he's beginning to look like a ship Hennie with all three masts installed. Smart, starting from the mizzen with your rigging plan. Cheers,
  18. Great little tutorial on your mast hole jig JesseLee. That'll make life a lot easier for you later on. And a wow on the gratings, great job. Cheers,
  19. Snebbe? Is that Rotjeknor dialect for snavel, Sjors? Sorry, I have not kept up with the Dutch language evolution. Been gone since 1957 By the way, paint job looks nice, well done. Cheers,
  20. Thanks Nils, now I know how they look but still don't know what a "bag foot" is . If I was looking for an American source how would I ask, is there another name I can use? Not that I need it but am just very curious. Acorn nuts I can understand but can be labor intensive. Cheers,
