Jessie, do you happen to have a String A Long or a small hobby lathe? This would make serving your lines easier. David B

Nicely done Mauro. As for the crew maybe they are taking a break. A little drink to cool things off. David B

Happy anniversary. You are doing a fantastic job and have made tremendous progress on a demanding kit. Smart move in dry fitting things. That way you can avoid the booboos that seem to happen at this stage of a build. David B

Have fun. Many years ago the NRG did a tour of Annapolis. This was right after 9/11. It was almost cancelled. Fortunately they were convinced that we were a bunch of duffers who were not a danger to anyone but ourselves. Just do not ask about our politics. We had a splendid time. To this day I will remember the Rogers Collection. The only rough part I remember was our bus pulling into the gate and these young kids covering us with weapons trying to look serious. To this day I think inside they were laughing at a bus of old men. I would love to go through there again. David B

Unfortunately some companies will use either plastic or pot metal for many of their fittings. This is to cut down on costs. The bad thing about it is the casting are poorly made so you cannot even get the dimensions. David B

I bought a small compressor years ago when it was on a clearance sale. No water trap and no auto stop. The newer version by Badger as both. All I did was buy a regulator with a water tap plus my hose has an inline water tap. My compressor is hooked up to a foot controlled on/off switch. My first air brush was a Paasche H. After many years I bought a Badger 360. Once you learn how to use one you will never turn back. David B

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
