    I spent 30 min cutting and trimming a piece last night. It dropped from my tweezers. It took a minimag and 2 hrs later to find it. Instead of being by my work table it landed near the sofa by the basement door. David B

    A modeler I know in WI uses cigarette paper for most of his builds and has gotten in trouble for borrowing his wifes nylons and taking some thread out og them. David B

    The next piece of business was the roofs of the for and aft cabins. Basically cut them out and put in the plugs for the holds. This was straight forward just keep a steady hand and a sharp knife. The holds were put together by folding them and adding a piece of paper to the back to aid in the glue up. Then everything was glued together David B

    Scott I have seen this kind of build up before with lifeboats and I admire anyone who can make them look good. David B

    The next part or front turrets I am not sure of the terminolgy were cut out and built up. Once the part was dry I used a bamboo skewer to form the folds and bends. This was then glued into place. One of the things I was worried about was alignment so the assembly was not glued down yet. This might seem a little childish but I have already learned the hard way plus the warning from Brian C to be careful. Down the road I am glad I did. David B

    Before I finished the house I cut out the Aufbauwand hinten and started building it up. The first part was the easiest just fold and attach to the wall. David B

    The choice is yours to make. I would divide the hull with battens. This way i would get an idea of how the planking should run. Take your time. Since this will be the first layer you do not have to be perfect. There are many who just slap it on and then sand and fill. By doing a little research and experimenting you will get a good idea on planking so that on the second layer you will get it right. Then you can apply what you learned to the next model. David B

    Jerry, with everything that has been happening with me I missed your log. My apologies. If I had the software I could make a small fortune turning it into a book. Titled the Journey of the Constellation, from concept to the Water. I am learning many things about RC that I have never knew before. David B

    That is what I like about this hobby. You have your purists, researchers, builders who try to increase their knowledge and skill and go for the next challenge and those who build for the sheer fun of it whether right or wrong. The most important thing I would tell newcomers is to have a good time. David B

    You have more courage than I Mark. And steadier nerves. In Elk Grove Village our safety officer dropped by last year and told us we had to get rid of our solvents as well since we could not dispose of them safely. No more Toluene, Benzine, Acetone, MEK. This makes things hard to clean and prep things for either gluing up or cleaning period. But just go down the street and you can buy the stuff by the gallon. David B

    Well made Steve. I bought my Foredom many years ago when the NRG had their conference in Chicago. I was part of the hump team or as I call it the brawn. Heavy lifting errands and helping out the vendors. One of them was a Jewelry Supply called Sepp Tools. Because of the help I gave them they sold me the model they had along with the foot control. Later I bought the drill press attachment and threw out the dremel. David B
