  1. You got there before me Chuck! The angle looks a little shallow, just like what I ended up with, Augie - photocopy the rear transom plan and hold it over your counter, the lower fancy molding below the confederacy name is the curve you are looking for. As for the ends of the planks where the hull planking meets it, look back through my log and you will see many pics about that. Photo from directly astern looking from below up at the counter to be sure. Ben
  2. Well done Augie, looks like you achieved the curve needed, any chance of a pic the right way up and further away? Ben
  3. Hi Bill, I look forward to seeing you start the Confed, my build is on hiatus at the moment but should be restarting in a month or so, I'm at about the halfway point on my Confederacy, also check out Rustys and ChrisL scratch builds of her. As for ordering the models, model expo sells the kits in USA and has discounts now and then that can be up 60% off. If you are looking for really good quality wood check out jeff@hobbmill, awesome stuff. Ben
  4. Sweet Danny, I just ordered my framing package in Pear, I will be starting the TFFM in January and I'm doing Pegasus. I have started reading and rereading yours and Toni's logs, loads of info to digest and I thank you again for rebuilding your log. Ben
  5. Nice Augie, When you start planking the counter I would prebend the planks edgewise to get the correct curveture, something I failed at when I did mine! look at the plans! ben
  6. Sorry to hear about the damage Bob, if you can handle everything you are currently doing, I'm sure some repair work won't tax you to hard, will just take longer due to the distance. Ben
  7. The pic with the sander in it just goes to show how big the model really is! Cool! Ben
  8. Masterfully done Augie, when you do put the first wale planks on, take lots of time to get position perfect, all other planking and sheer line go from that first one, but knowing you it will just fly into perfect position. Ben
  9. Thank you Greg for the answer, 4" square. That equates to 1/12" at 1:48, I need to machine some boxwood now. Ben
  10. You really have mastered it Rusty, I can't wait to see you do a full POF model. :-)) Ben
  11. Really interesting, I love these fast racing ships, such beautiful lines and what a spread of canvas. I will watch your build with interest. Ben
  12. Some very nice updates and great masts btw, even more ratlines in your future! Look forward to seeing more. Ben
