  1. You're a very luck man to have been able to attend that workshop, I wish I could go!
  2. Sorry about the loss of your most impressive build and I hope you do choose to rebuild as you were doing really well. Ben
  3. Yet again a tour de force from Paul, how you make such tiny and detailed components is way beyond me, you have 25x magnification in your Optivisor?? ben
  4. Your a lucky man Jim to be able to attend that workshop, I'd love to but work gets in the way unfortunatly. Excellent work on the first frame and Im sure your build will continue to get even better. ben
  5. Thanks for the clarification guys, I just knew Rusty would not have done it without a reason - thats more like a mistake I would make. ben
  6. Oh God - You had to mention the Popcorn - and it all starts again.
  7. Aha! The fight against spiling has finally ended!! I know you will be much happier with your planking results by learning this important technique, we all have to at some point if we are to get better. Ben
  8. Wow - now that Chock is Tiny, I hope the carpet monster doesnt eat it! ben
  9. Hi Ryland - Glad to see you are reposting your log, I think Chuck just moved mine into this forum as well so we are all a big happy family again! ben
  10. Chuck and Toni - I also broke the stempiece and just left it off until planking was complete, its so fragile i dont know if it can be helped, especially the way the wood grain runs. ben
  11. Hi jason, Yeh - the model expo paints are not very good, Id go back to the Valjeo paints if i was you, Myself I use Newton&Windsor Galleria Acrylics and i paint them on VERY thin, pretty much just a wash, but many many coats with sanding inbetween, I think the titanium white that I used on the hull had about 15 coats over a weeks period. Looking forward to seeing more. ben
  12. Now how did my Longboat log get on this Club build page? Chuck?? I have stepped the mast and im working on the rigging now, some pics this week. Now I have to decide how Im going to display her. ben
  13. Hi Rusty, Everything looks great but I do have a question about something in one of the pics and I dont have a set of the plans to see if its correct. Is something missing? ben
  14. Looking Good there Floyd - I still havent found the old HDD with my old pics, I'll have to get the Admirial onto it, she can find anything! ben
  15. Grant - Congrats on finishing the ratlines, a major milestone in any build, and it all looks superb, very well done my friend. Can't wait to see the next update and post lots of pics for you know who... Ben
  16. Wow - that is gonna be a Whopper! Are you going to build entirely from that cherry or has an order been put into our friend Jeff? BTW I just ordered some 1/16 boxwood to make the Confeds double beaded moldings - couldn't get a decent result with the basswood. Ben
  17. I would suggest the Syren from model shipways, plenty of logs here on MSW to look at, superb design and instructions from Chuck who is the Administrator of this site. Quality of parts and backup support from MS is superb. It would also be a good step up from where you are now. Ben
  18. Sweet work there Andy, ahhh the joys of rigging, I'm sure you will do a first rate job like the rest of the build. Just keep posting photos for Sjors to keep him sane. Ben
  19. Simply fantastic there Augie, well done reaching that milestone, you must be very proud on how she has worked out. Chuck must feel like a proud father with such a beautiful example of his design being built. Ben
  20. Got to agree with the others, love the display base, very artistic idea, may use that one in the future if you don't mind. Ben
  21. Wow, your wife is a hell of a good painter, nice idea leaving some of the hull unplanked, haven't seen that before on this kit. Ben
  22. Damn Rusty, you've started already? I'll be watching with interest! Ben
  23. Hey Gaetan - Yep that was the photo - friggin awesome. I showed it to a buddy of mine and he couldnt believe it. Look forward to more of your amazing work. ben
