Very nice work there Jim, I also have the ECHO to build but must finish at least one of my builds before the Admiral will allow me to start another, in the meantime I am getting the nesscary tools to be able to do it justice. I will follow you log with great interest. Ben -
Hi Paul, Glad you are back, didn't feel the same without your mighty ship model. I hope you consider re posting all of your old pictures, would be a loss to the forum if not as there was some truly inspiring work you did and all those amazing details you manage to create. Look forward to seeing the log continue. Ben

Hey JP, Looks like your off and running with the hull planking, VERY nice work up to now. It would appear that you planking plan is working well - the symetry when looking in the picture at the stem is good, If you can keep it within 1/32" you are doing great. Iam now getting auto updated whenever you post on your log so I will be following along. ben

Hey Augie, I just noticed that the Syren build logs are now grouped in with the build logs for kits and not in its own section like before! So you've been transferred in with all of us ruffians. So glad your back mate, I expect to be enjoying the re hashed jokes immediately. Lol. Ben

Oarlocks and Horse added, using supplied wire from kit, oarlocks will be painted red to match. Friezes were added, I had to resize them down to 88% of original to get the sizing to fit, then I sprayed them with artists fixative to stop it from fading, then I used rubber cement on both surfaces to glue them on. Final pic shows it next to her big sister ( USF Confederacy ), for which I will have to build 2 slightly smaller ( 3/16" scale ) ships boats. This marks an end to all the old pics up to now, I am currently building and painting all of the mast and spars and their associated metal work, more pics to follow with comments always welcome. ben

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
