Got the cannons built and installed, built and installed one of Chuck's helm wheels (it is a teeny bit large but it looks miles better than WM that came with kit), built and installed grates (Chuck's), got the binnacle built and installed (Eugene you might want to correct directions and add binnacle location). Worked on head work.

I do the backstays last and use them to tighten everything up. -

kit review 1/72 Cannon Jolle - Master Korabel - Baltic Sea Gunboat
Jim Rogers replied to ccoyle's topic in REVIEWS: Model kits
This is a nice build and makes a very good looking model. I suggest you add some color as MK just has bare wood. Have fun with it. -
I would go without the fancy work and just paint that area.

Are your masts glued in yet? If not I suggest adding your blocks now. I have learned the frustration of adding blocks and rigging line later in the build and now do both at the earliest stage I can. Trying to thread a line threw a block under a fighting top is a challenge for these old eyes.

Hello from the Bluegrass state ... of confusion that is .

David take a peak at the Master Korabel Small boat kits. They are a dream compared to others on the market and come in several different scales. -
I am currently building the pre-spiled Phoenix by Master Korabel. Everything is pre cut, fitted and shaped in this kit. It makes for a beautiful model but as Chuck referenced earlier it is basically building a plastic model using wood. Zero skill required with the exception of figuring out the instructions. You don’t get the frustration and final joy that comes with doing it yourself.

Welcome aboard. Wow the Morgan as a first build. There are many good build logs for the Morgan on this site. She has a blunt bow which may be intimidating. Build a bending frame and practice. You can do this just take your time, don’t let frustration cause you to quit. Your bride is going to love it. -
Proxxon Bench Circular Saw KS115
Jim Rogers replied to RussR's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
Yes, a Byrnes Saw.😂🤣😇😎. I have Same issue with my Micro Mark, in fact I believe it is the same saw as a Proxxon. Saving for a Byrnes. -
CA Debond works well for removing parts held in place with CA.

She is looking great so far. Just take your time when you are planking and it will all work out. You’ll do just fine.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
