Hi Larry, thanks for the input. Your question the other day, prompted me to offer the polish kit at a good price for anyone who is in need of them. Glad the method worked out for you and you are satisfied with the results. Yes, the new venture is doing well so far. It will take me less time to maintain it than it did to build it (website) especially since I've never built a website before - had a good sized learning curve. That will definitely give me more time in the shipyard. As for retirement - I'm glad to keep busy doing something that at least keeps the mind working let's me preserve the few brain cells I still have...I hope you and your family have a very Blessed Thanksgiving, Be safe, John

Hi Larry, hope you're happy with how your brass polished up. You might want to check my Proxxon website I am running a Daily Special which is a polishing kit for a Rotary Tool. Not sure if you need something like this, but it works great for a lot of polishing needs other than model ships too. Nothing like a good "junk yard" of extra stuff to find what ya need in this hobby. I've sometimes surprised myself when I take an off the wall piece out of my junk box and use it for something unique and necessary.

Thanks Scott, I plan to do just that as I realize there isn't a lot of info or pictures to help someone that is not familiar with this process....ie. me. So I'll plod along and do the best I can to document this.

Next is Deadeyes and Chainplates. Starting with the starboard Foremast working my way to the Main and Mizzen both port and starboard. I think now is a good time to install all of them since, #1 It needs to be done, and #2 they'll be available when needed without having to interupt the flow of things. I use brass wire, proper deadeys and solder and blacken the brass. Once the chain plate is blackend insert th ends into the pre drilled holes in the channels, wrap the brass around the nails in the kit, drill the hole and glue in place. Should look something like this.

Looks really nice Tom, I did the plastic version first, only took 45 years, but someday maybe I'll tackle the wood version. Keep it up, very nice indeed.
