  1. Nenad, What drawings are precise ... Try to get the measurements/sizes from an other builder's drawings ... or maybe Yahoo search/Google ... I, unfortunately, am sorry but I cannot shed any light on this deviation in sizes
  2. Mike, If you continue like this, you might end up with a better model than he one in the Hamburg maritime museum ...
  3. Didn't know flute players were used to give the oarsmen their rythm. I seem to be lacking in my schooling on the topic, thanks for the information
  4. Nice tutorial on pre-carving preperation. That last photo is an unknown form of display, not seen before in your 'atelier'...
  5. It's amazing what they could accomplish with the limited tools, and other resources they had in that time. Wonderful, certainly worth while visiting, Nenad
  6. Ah, this one is slightly bigger than the Angelman Ketch I build. Hope you don't mind if I pull up a chair ...
  7. You've been fly fishing or ... at least fishing is to some good relaxation ... it drives me nuts, so I refrain from doing it. Hope your friend's 50th birthday was a hit, very kind to make your house available to him!! Nice miniature plane collection, Sam. The violin plane in the background I like especially - I'm a fool for brass. It sometimes is very demanding to get the right balance as you are finding out. You could set the plane on top of a flat surface, e.g. a glass pane, put a (or multiple) plastic sheet(s) with the right/required thickness between the glass and the plane and adjust the blade/chisel(?) Cheers
  8. She turned out very well. I like the different colours you used, the planks, saw horses ... a terrific job. When you look at the hull, she looks to be build for speed ... a pitty we missed out on some parts of the build as popeye wrote ... it would complement your build log. Still a marvelous build!!! Cheers
  9. Eventhough it is a kind of parting, you should find joy in your daughter's next step in life. I know you're proud of her ... I can only guess at the train wreck feeling you'll experience to make the trip. It will probably mean a lot to your daughter. I wish you lots of strength and a safe trip to you and your travel companions Hope you feel better soon Cheers
  10. You could try to spray some water on the sail when you iron it. You could press it out, that is another option: lay a wet cloth on top and press with the iron. When I use the latter technique, I hold the iron down until the wet cloth is nearly dry beneath the ion
  11. From tiny to hughe. Very nice buildings, Ken. That mill needs some more parts before I can see it in my mind's eye
  12. It seems Slog is right, it is sunken in the deck, without "standing" sides. It just slides over a flat bed ... you could try aluminum foil or very thin brass Nice piece of juwelers work those chaines, you seem to have a nack for it ... might start selling necklaces ...
  13. Your stiches on the fabric look good (#263), so I cannot imagine it'll be less than those from hobbiesguinea (#268). However, if you do not feel comfortable with the choosen material, you could give a less shiny fabric a try, something deerskin-ish, which may give you a better result. Shiny surfaces for fabrics/leather in models often give a fake impression. I like the effort you put into it, to improve the kit !
  14. Now I see what you meant. Between the stich rows/lines you've got 6mm, not between the stiches. Hmm, I know it's very hard to get an accurate stich in faux leather, even with a good needle. Your second image does look better than the first. It seems as if the tension of the thread in the first image is higher than in the second, which leaves an ugly hole. So you've made some very nice upholstery
  15. It's a joy watching it come together, Clare. Good point you mentioned on all those port frames differing. Nice to know for other modellers Cheers
  16. The stiches look good, but how do they compare to the boat. If, as you say the stiches are 1mm wide and 6 mm apart it sounds a bit wide to me.
  17. A strong finish, Tony. Have loved your build from the beginning. Some great tutorials too. Thanks for sharing Cheers
