Hi Mick, You ask some advise…... Here is mine When you paint it first and then put them on, you have the change that your paint is going away by the glue. So, first place the rubbing strakes, then use tape and paint it. You can do that before you finish above and under the hull or do it first and then you have the change that you do a little fiddly work when the hull is finished. That's up to you. And use tamya tape, you have different sizes in that.

Hi Mick, I used the French blue on the San Ildefonso and the dull black. There both beautiful colours. I just love the admiralty paint. The cherry color I don't know but I gonna take a look at the link you gave us. I have take a look but I only see a bottle…... After the experience I have with the paint, I think you make a good choice to use it. And thanks for the explanation about the bow. I'll wait to see what you are doing with it.

Hi Mick, You give us ( Adriaan and myself ) a nice answer…... If I understand it correctly, you place the balsa blocks into the bow, shape it and then you put the second planking over it? I have the same thing with my Smit Rotterdam but in have to plank it also with the first planking. It's the same what we are doing with almost all the builds. Just put balsa blocks at the stern and bow to make the planking easier. But if your manual are saying that you have to do it this way, oke then...

Hi Adriaan, I just doing the same as you. Only reading and no building. The only thing is that the temperature is to high to work upstairs. When I come home from work I want to try to do some things but after 5 minutes there are coming water all over me. And no, It was not Anja with a water gun…... Take care of your leg and happy reading….. I shall not yell about the CF !

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
